Abstract: Battery management systems and methods can provide real-time automated monitoring of various aspects of battery health and operation. Some battery management systems can use an equivalent cell circuit model to predict a range for the expected behavior of a battery cell under actual operating conditions in real-time. The prediction can be compared to the actual behavior of the cell to determine whether an anomaly exists. Some battery management systems can maintain an estimate of battery state-of-health parameters such as charge capacity and internal resistance and can update these estimates in real time while the battery is being discharged and/or charged. Anomalous variations in a monitored parameter can trigger a real-time fault notification.

Abstract: A food holding device includes a receptacle member having a body and a surrounding wall for containing food. A flexible strap is attached to the receptacle member. One end of the strap is connectible to secure the receptacle around an object (e.g., a thigh of a child). The flexible strap has ends that are configured for releasable connection (e.g., using hook and loop material). The ends can overlappingly connect to secure the receptacle to the child. The strap can be attached to the receptacle member in a number of ways, and may be removable. A liner and/or a closure device (e.g., lid or drawstring) may be used with the device. The receptacle member can receive and hold a container or a pre-packaged item. The receptacle member can be a pre-packaged item itself with an attached or attachable strap. One or more parts of the device can be disposable and/or reusable.

Abstract: Disclosed are hardware and techniques for correcting computer process faults by identifying risk associated with correcting a computer process fault and computer processes that may depend on the corrected computer process. The interdependent computer processes in a network may be determined by evaluating a stream of process break flags from a monitoring component coupled to the network. Each computer process break flag in the stream of computer process break flags indicates a process fault detected by the monitoring component and is correlated to a corrective response. The break flag and the corrective response are assigned a risk. A risk matrix accounts for interdependencies between computer processes and identified corrective actions. A final response strategy that corrects the computer process faults is determined using the assigned risk and computer system interdependence.

Abstract: A computing device includes signal generation circuitry and also includes a location on the computing device that is operative to couple a signal generated by the signal generation circuitry into a user. For example, the computing device includes signal generation circuitry that generates a signal that includes information corresponding to a user and/or an application that is operative within the computing device. The signal generation circuitry couples the signal into the user from a location on the computing device based on a bodily portion of the user being in contact with or within sufficient proximity to the location on the computing device that facilitates coupling of the signal into the user. Also, the signal may be coupled via the user to another computing device that includes a touchscreen display that is operative to detect and receive the signal.

Abstract: In implementations of systems for management of dry eye syndrome, a palpebral fissure width is determined as a distance between a medial canthus and a lateral canthus of closed eyelids. An ideal eyelash length is generated based on the distance. Prostheses having the ideal eyelash length are attached to candidate eyelashes of an upper eyelid of the closed eyelids. The prostheses introduce a turbulence to airflow around a tear film which prevents the tear film from evaporating. Dry eye syndrome is managed by preventing the tear film from evaporating.

Abstract: Systems and methods for prosthetic implant revision surgery may include a robot having a robotic arm for attaching multiple surgical tools. The robot may generate a surgical plan for attaching the surgical tools to the robotic arm (e.g., a large diameter wheel, an in-line cutting tip, a posterior curved cradle, a reciprocal saw, a long burr, a trephine reamer, an osteotome, a keel remover, etc.) and performing the steps to remove an anterior flange/cap of a prosthetic knee and debond cement from bone within the intramedullary canal of a tibia or femur. The robot may include cameras and/or tracking devices for mapping/generating a three-dimensional model of an operating space and the implant, and determine precise planes and angles for approaching the implant with the surgical tools. Accordingly, the systems and methods may perform revision surgery with less bone loss than previous techniques and may result in more reproducible outcomes.

Abstract: A vehicle is provided including one or more cameras and a controller coupled to the one or more cameras. The controller is operable to receive data from one or more devices, indicating a location of a user. Based on the data received from the one or more devices, the controller determines an estimated location of a face of the user. Further, the controller, in one or more images captured by the one or more cameras, searches a location of the face of the user based on the estimated location of the face. Thereby, the controller detects the location of the face of the use.

Abstract: A device for moving an object is disclosed. The device has a drive cylinder with drive grooves and a set of idler pulleys. The idler pulleys are on a shaft that is parallel to the drive cylinder. Each of the idler pulleys rotate at an angle around the drive shaft that aligns the grooves of the idler pulleys to neighboring drive grooves. This allows the line to pass onto the drive groove, around an idler pulley, and onto a next adjacent drive groove. The line therefore winds back and forth between the drive grooves, the idler pulleys, and back to the next drive groove. One end of the line is placed under tension and the other is attached to an object or to a fixed member. The drive cylinder is driven and the line is moved through the device, or the device is moved along the line, respectively.
