Publication number: 20210287824Abstract: A device that will enable material to be irradiated as needed to produce a desired transmutation product inside the core of a nuclear reactor. The device provides a means for monitoring neutron flux in the vicinity of the material being irradiated to allow determination of the amount of transmutation product being produced. The device enables the irradiated material to be inserted into the reactor and held in place at desired axial positions and to be withdrawn from the reactor when desired without shutting down the reactor. The majority of the device may be re-used for subsequent irradiations. The device also enables the simple and rapid attachment of unirradiated target material to the portion of the device that transmits the motive force to insert and withdraw the target material into and out of the reactor and the rapid detachment or the irradiated material from the device for processing.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 14, 2020Publication date: September 16, 2021Applicant: Westinghouse Electric Company LLCInventors: Michael D. Publication number: 20210286716Abstract: In a storage system that implements metadata paging, the page free pool is replenished in the background to reduce foreground evictions and associated latency on page-in. A two-level page eviction controller with cascaded proportional, integral, derivative (PID) controllers optimizes the size of the free page pool and optimizes the rate at which pages are freed in the background. By optimizing these two parameters the page eviction controller dynamically maximizes used pages (minimizing free pages) to increase the metadata cache hit ratio. Optimizing the parameters also reduces the chances of foreground page evictions, thereby reducing IO latency, during both steady state and burst page-in requests.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 10, 2020Publication date: September 16, 2021Applicant: EMC IP HOLDING COMPANY LLCInventors: Andrew Chanler, Mathew Pilozzi

Publication number: 20210286092Abstract: A personnel location and monitoring system enables on-scene commanders in austere environments to identify, location and manage personnel. The present invention establishes a localized network of geolocation-capable transceivers which can thereafter provide communication capabilities with specially-equipped users as they ingress and egress an austere environment. Each user is equipped with an Individual Geospatial Locational Unit which provides data via a datalink with one or more of the anchors, and ultimately with a base station. From such data and the datalink itself the location of the user as well as the user's biomedical condition can be ascertained. As confidence of the location of the user drops below a predetermined threshold and/or the biomedical condition of the user raises concern with respect to the user's well-being, the present invention modifies the communication and geolocation protocols to prioritize communication and data transfer with such a user.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 20, 2021Publication date: September 16, 2021Applicant: Taber Innovations Group LLCInventors: Phillip P.
