Abstract: In various examples, there is provided a computer-implemented method for writing transaction log entries to a transaction log for a database system. At least part of the database system is configured to be executed within a trusted execution environment. The transaction log is stored outside of the trusted execution environment. The method maintains a first secure count representing a number of transaction log entries which have been written to the transaction log for transactions which have been committed to the database and writes a transaction log entry to the transaction log. In other examples, there is also provided is a computer-implemented method for restoring a database system using transaction log entries received from the transaction log and a current value of the first secure count.

The electric-only operation may be initiated in response to one or more of the powertrain temperature exceeding the threshold powertrain temperature and the electric-only range being equal to the distance.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed that leverage multi-factor authentication features of a service provider and intelligent call routing to increase security and efficiency at a customer call center. Pre-authentication of customer support requests reduces the potential for misappropriation of sensitive customer data during call handling. A contactless card uniquely associated with a client may provide a second factor of authentication via a backchannel to reduce the potential for malicious third-party impersonation of the client prior to transfer of the call to the customer call center. Pre-authorized customer support calls may be intelligently and efficiently routed directly to call center agents, without incurring further delay. During call handling, call center agents may initiate further client authentication processes, including contactless card authentication requests, over one or more different communication channels for authorizing access to sensitive information or to allay suspicion.

Abstract: In various embodiments, computerized systems and methods for displacement oriented interaction with objects in a computer-mediated environment are provided. In one embodiment, the system detects a wearable device moved with a displacement transversal to a longitudinal axis of the wearable device. If the system determines that the displacement is within a displacement range associated with an actionable item, the system may select the actionable item or activate an operation associated with the actionable item, such as modifying an object in the computer-mediated reality environment.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed that dynamically and laterally shift each virtual object displayed by an augmented reality headset by a respective distance as the respective virtual object is displayed to change virtual depth from a first virtual depth to a second virtual depth. The respective distance may be determined based on a lateral distance between a first convergence vector of a user's eye with the respective virtual object at the first virtual depth and a second convergence vector of the user's eye with the respective virtual object at the second virtual depth along the display, and may be based on an interpupillary distance. In this manner, display of the virtual object may be adjusted such that the gazes of the user's eyes may converge where the virtual object appears to be.

Abstract: A DSL management system predicts achieving improved DSL line performance before a DSL optimizer optimizes performance of the DSL line. The system obtains a current state of performance of the DSL line before optimization and a target state of performance after optimization. The system further obtains a measure of DSL line characteristics and identifies, from records of performance information associated with DSL lines, a subset of records associated with a subset of DSL lines that have a similar measure of the DSL line characteristics as the DSL line for which achieving improved performance is predicted. The system obtains a probability that the DSL optimizer will optimize the performance of the DSL line based on a frequency with which the identified subset of records indicates that the optimizer previously has optimized the performance of the subset of DSL lines.

Abstract: Data is replicated between primary and secondary storage systems using a data pulling process or a log shipping process. If data is to be replicated through the log shipping process, a transaction and its associated data get stored in a transaction log in the secondary storage system. Subsequently, when the transaction gets executed, actual data gets persisted from the transaction log to a data log in the secondary storage system. If the data is to be replicated through the data pulling process, the transaction is stored in the transaction log. However, the associated data for the transaction is retrieved from the first primary storage system and stored directly in the data log in the secondary system.

Abstract: A system processes a set of images to verify whether the images depict a type of property damage, such as hail damage from a hail storm. The system receives digital images of a roof or other facet of the property that were taken by an image capturing device after the storm event. The system also receives storm data relating to the storm event and claim data related to a property damage claim. The system uses the claim data to process the digital images to automatically identify damage to the roof or other facet. The system then analyzes the storm data to determine whether the damage is consistent with an actual, naturally-occurring storm event, and it generates a report depicting its findings.

Abstract: The present application pertains to novel methods to generate power. In a representative embodiment, power is generated by warming a body of air having a temperature lower than the freezing point of liquid water by contacting the body of air with liquid water. The liquid water has a temperature greater than the freezing point of liquid water. Liquid water freezes thereby generating latent heat from freezing and thereby warming the body of air. The warmed body of air may be passed through an air turbine to generate power. Other methods and systems are described that use similar principles.

Abstract: Provided is a process for producing a graphene-based supercapacitor electrode from a supply of coke or coal powder, comprising: (a) exposing this powder to a supercritical fluid for a period of time in a pressure vessel to enable penetration of the supercritical fluid into internal structure of the coke or coal; wherein the powder is selected from petroleum coke, coal-derived coke, meso-phase coke, synthetic coke, leonardite, anthracite, lignite coal, bituminous coal, or natural coal mineral powder, or a combination thereof; (b) rapidly depressurizing the supercritical fluid at a fluid release rate sufficient for effecting exfoliation and separation of the coke or coal powder to produce isolated graphene sheets, which are dispersed in a liquid medium to produce a graphene suspension; and (c) shaping and drying the graphene suspension to form the supercapacitor electrode having a specific surface area greater than 200 m2/g.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for integrated channel and/or band stacking solutions. A plurality of signals may be received, such as via a signal receiver, with each of the received signals being different from remaining ones of the plurality signals. At least two received signals may be processed, such as via one or more processing circuits, and an output signal may be generated based on the processing of the at least two received signals. The output signal may include only one or more portions from each of the at least two signals, with the one or more portions being stacked within the output signal. The stacking of the one or more portions from the at least two signals may include applying channel equalization, with the channel equalization including equalizing power of a plurality of sub-components of a frequency band corresponding to the one or more portions.

Abstract: Systems and methods for determining rate of corrosion in pipes and other structures are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a method for measuring a rate of corrosion progress in a specimen includes: generating a first initial pulse into the specimen by an ultrasonic transducer, and acquiring a first reflected waveform from the specimen. The first reflected waveform includes a first reflection of the first waveform and a second reflection of the first waveform. The method also includes generating a second initial pulse into the specimen by the ultrasonic transducer. The first initial pulse and the second initial pulse are separated by a time period. The method also includes acquiring a second reflected waveform from the specimen. The second reflected waveform includes a first reflection of the second waveform and a second reflection of the second waveform.

Abstract: A web browser, editor, and server cooperate to enable visual debugging of hypertext markup language (HTML) code. The editor loads an HTML source file and displays it for interactive editing. The web server generates a web page from the source file and at the same time generates a page representation that is provided to the editor. The browser receives the web page from the web server and generates a document object model (DOM) to display a view of the HTML page. The editor takes snapshots of the HTML source file in correspondence with edits thereto. The snapshots are compared to find a snapshot difference, which is correlated with the page representation. The page representation is updated by the editor. Based on the updated page representation, the editor communicates with the browser to update the DOM. The updated DOM is rendered by the browser without reloading the web page.
