  • Patent number: 11112378
Abstract: A method of operating a gas detection device including a capillary-limited, electrochemical gas sensor includes operating the gas sensor in a sensing mode during which a signal from the gas sensor is representative of a concentration of the analyte gas measured by the gas sensor and in an interrogation mode during which the gas sensor is electronically interrogated by applying an electric signal to the gas sensor to generate a non-faradaic current flow between a working electrode and a counter electrode without the application of a test gas, periodically entering the interrogation mode, measuring a parameter of a gas sensor output during the interrogation mode, comparing the measured parameter to one or more previously measured parameters, determining an operational state from the comparison, and returning the gas sensor to the sensing mode if the operational state is determined to be within a predetermined range.

  • Patent number: 11110803
Abstract: A hybrid electric vehicle or a battery electric vehicle has an electric machine, a traction battery, and an accessory powered by the traction battery. The vehicle includes a controller that, in response to a driver lifting their foot off the accelerator pedal, increases the negative motor torque produced by the electric machine for charging the traction battery to compensate for a load applied by the accessory. The controller increases negative motor torque as limited by a maximum motor torque limit. The accessory may be an electric air conditioning compressor and/or a DC/DC inverter.

  • Patent number: 11113674
Abstract: The present application provides a method and a user device for monitoring a use condition. The method includes determining a baseline level of performance for each of one or more elements of the device including a determined replacement threshold level. The method further includes running a diagnostic determining the current performance of at least some of the one or more elements for which a baseline level of performance has been determined, wherein the running of the diagnostic includes a diagnostic determination triggered by a detected non-standard use condition. The current performance of the at least some of the one or more elements is compared to the determined baseline level performance for the respective ones of the one or more elements of the user device. When the determined current performance of at least one of the one or more elements falls below the determined replacement threshold level, the user is notified of a need for service of the user device.

  • Patent number: 11113779
Abstract: A technique is described herein for adding a digital watermark to a mesh. The mesh describes a three-dimensional object using a plurality of vertices and edges, which together define a plurality of polygonal shapes (e.g., triangles). The technique involves identifying at least one anomalous element of the mesh. The technique then supplements one or more of the anomalous elements by adding a computer-readable code to the anomalous element(s). That computer-readable code includes a digital watermark. An anomalous element corresponds to a part of the mesh that qualifies as a statistically atypical occurrence within the mesh, based on a specified rule that defines what constitutes a statistically atypical occurrence. In a reading stage, the technique finds the anomalous element(s). It then reads the digital watermark that has been encoded into the anomalous element(s).

  • Patent number: 11112257
Abstract: Representative embodiments disclose mechanisms to utilize navigation routes in order to avoid or minimize sun glare along the navigation route. Some embodiments first estimate whether it is likely that sun glare will be perceived while navigating between a starting location and an ending location. If sun glare is likely, the navigation route is calculated using sun glare as part of a cost function. If sun glare is not likely, the navigation route is calculated without regard to sun glare. Real-time sun glare feedback can be received from one user device and used in sun glare calculations for another user device. In some embodiments a trained machine learning model can be utilized as part of the sun glare calculation. Other embodiments include digital assistants that use sun glare information to recommend actions and/or take actions on behalf of a user.

  • Patent number: 11115794
Abstract: A gas meter is outfit with near field communication (NFC) devices for in-situ exchange of data. The NFC devices reside in separate compartments. A first compartment houses electronics necessary to generate values for volumetric flow of material in a pipe. The gas meter includes a second compartment with an access point that allows data, including telemetry data, to transmit from the gas meter to a remote device. In operation, the NFC devices exchange data between the first compartment and the second compartment, often through a wall or barrier that prevents flow of fluid between the compartments.
