  • Patent number: 11114856
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method of protecting a component using a deliberately created impedance mismatch between conductive impedance transition elements and an electric power line. The method comprises coupling a plurality of conductive impedance transition elements having a greater diameter than the power line at a position between an extended length of the power line and the component. The difference between the diameters of the conductive transition elements and the power line causes an intentional impedance mismatch between the two or more impedance transition elements with adjacent portions of the power line, and the mismatch causes high-frequency components of the transient electromagnetic signals induced on the power line by the transient electrical disturbance to be reflected by at least one of two or more impedance transition elements away from the protected component.

  • Patent number: 11109887
Abstract: Embodiments include devices and methods configured to fractionally resect skin and/or fat. Fractional resection is applied as a stand-alone procedure in anatomical areas that are off-limits to conventional plastic surgery due to the poor tradeoff between the visibility of the incisional scar and amount of enhancement obtained. Fractional resection is also applied as an adjunct to established plastic surgery procedures such as liposuction, and is employed to significantly reduce the length of incisions required for a particular application. The shortening of incisions has application in both the aesthetic and reconstructive realms of plastic surgery.

  • Patent number: 11115510
Abstract: A communication device, computer program product, and method enable associating a closed position and an open position of a movable housing positionably coupled to a base housing of the communication device with alternate ones of first and second modes of antenna communication that respectively utilize an antenna array of a first sub-array aligned or not aligned in a second sub-array. The first array of first antenna(s) is housed within the base housing. The second sub-array of second antenna(s) is housed within the movable housing. The controller monitors a housing sensor positioned to detect the closed position and the open position. In response to identifying the mode, the controller configures a modem to use an excitation matrix associated with the mode comprising magnitude and phase settings to apply to each antenna of the first and the second sub-arrays to act either independently or as an array.
