One disclosed example provides a haptic rendering device including a patterned layer that exhibits auxetic behavior, and a plurality of actuators configured to move the patterned layer, each actuator being individually controllable to cooperatively change a curvature of the patterned layer in two dimensions.

Abstract: Interface and mode selection for digital action execution is provided. For example, a system loads a script library embedded in an electronic resource. The system determines a historic level of engagement between a client computing device and one or more digital assistants. The system selects, based on a first property of the client computing device and the historic level of engagement, a type of digital interface. The system generates, based on the type of digital interface, a digital interface with the call-to-action. The system determines, responsive to an instruction to execute the call-to-action, a mode of execution. The system selects a digital assistant and a second client device to execute the call-to-action. The system transmits the call-to-action to the second client device for execution.

Abstract: Processes herein may be used to thermally crack various hydrocarbon feeds, and may eliminate the refinery altogether while making the crude to chemicals process very flexible in terms of crude. In embodiments herein, crude is progressively separated into at least light and heavy fractions. Depending on the quality of the light and heavy fractions, these are routed to one of three upgrading operations, including a fixed bed hydroconversion unit, a fluidized catalytic conversion unit, or a residue hydrocracking unit that may utilize an ebullated bed reactor. Products from the upgrading operations may be used as feed to a steam cracker.

Abstract: A muscle activating and exercising device and a method of activating and exercising muscles of the human body. The device includes an outer material and at least one flexible inner material. The device is an elongated device that is pliable enough to be wrapped around an object. The device also has an outer surface that creates a frictional fit between the device and the wrapped object. The wrapped object could be, for example, a wrist or ankle on a human limb or a location on a portion of sports equipment (e.g., a lacrosse stick, baseball bat, hockey stick, golf club or tennis racket). The method includes a method of activating muscles using the device. Through such a method, a user can, for example, build muscle strength and/or reduce muscle tremors.

Abstract: A method for depositing a functional material on a substrate is disclosed. An optically transparent plate having a first surface and a second surface with one or more wells is provided. After coating the second surface with a thin layer of light-absorbing material, the wells are filled with a functional material. The plate is then irradiated with a pulsed light to heat the layer of light-absorbing material in order to generate gas at an interface between the layer of light-absorbing material and the functional material to release the functional material from the wells onto a receiving substrate located adjacent to the plate.

Abstract: An electronic rack includes a number of server chassis arranged in a stack. Each server chassis includes one or more servers and each server includes one or more processors. The electronic rack further includes a number of cooling chassis corresponding to the server chassis. Each cooling chassis is configured to provide liquid cooling to the processors of the server chassis. The cooling chassis includes a cooling module having one or more cooling devices arranged and positioned vertical aligned with the processors of the corresponding server chassis to extract the heat generated from the processors. The cooling chassis further includes a cooling unit coupled to the cooling modules to form a cooling loop to circulate the cooling liquid between the cooling devices and the cooling unit to cool the cooling liquid carrying the heat extracted from the cooling devices. A natural convection cooling loop is assembled and adapted on the cooling chassis.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for a personalized entity repository. For example, a computing device comprises a personalized entity repository having fixed sets of entities from an entity repository stored at a server, a processor, and memory storing instructions that cause the computing device to identify fixed sets of entities that are relevant to a user based on context associated with the computing device, rank the fixed sets by relevancy, and update the personalized entity repository using selected sets determined based on the rank and on set usage parameters applicable to the user. In another example, a method includes generating fixed sets of entities from an entity repository, including location-based sets and topic-based sets, and providing a subset of the fixed sets to a client, the client requesting the subset based on the client's location and on items identified in content generated for display on the client.

Abstract: Systems and methods for delta state tracking for event stream analysis. Events at a device are tracked and stored locally or forwarded to a server. The events collectively form an event stream. When an event of interest occurs, the precise configuration of a device at the time of the event of interest can be determined by applying the event stream in chronological or reverse chronological order to a snapshot of the device's configuration. Thus, the snapshot can be taken at any time. Tracking the deltas to the device's configuration enables the precise configuration at the time of the event of interest to be determined.

Abstract: In an embodiment, a computing device may display a video browser screen on an output device. The video browser screen may include a list of video programs arranged as a carousel. The carousel may have a plurality of entries, where an entry may represent a video program that may be provided by a service provider. A video program represented by an entry may be, for example, a live video program, a video program available on demand, or a video program that may have been recorded by a device that may be provided by the service provider. The computing device may acquire an indication to navigate to an entry in the carousel. The computing device may navigate to the entry and acquire an indication to select the entry. Abstract: In order to provide efficient processing of Dynamic Host Control Protocol (DHCP) data flows and dynamic Internet Protocol (IP) address management, an electronic device that implements a virtual dataplane in a network may separate the DHCP data flows from other data flows. Then, the virtual dataplane may perform IP address management using one or more applications that are executed by a processor in the electronic device. In order to accelerate processing of a sequence of packets in a DHCP data flow to a destination, the virtual dataplane may look up a stored result of a look-up operation for a first packet in the sequence, so that subsequent packets in the sequence use the stored result without performing the look-up operation. Furthermore, the IP address management may include dynamically freeing up IP addresses in the network based on network activity of client devices.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are novel indazole-based compounds that inhibit fructokinase (aka ketohexokinase) and the downstream metabolic effects mediated by fructose metabolism. Fructokinase inhibitors specifically block the metabolism of both dietary and endogenous fructose metabolism and have a host of potential metabolic benefits. These benefits including blocking sugar craving and sugar induced metabolic syndrome and diabetes, but also blocking fructose metabolism can benefit the rare orphan disease Hereditary Fructose Intolerance, obesity, insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, fatty liver, hypertension, cardiac injury from ischemia, certain cancers (including hepatocellular and pancreas), acute kidney injury from ischemia, heat stress, rhabdomyolysis or radiocontrast, and chronic diabetic and nondiabetic renal disease.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for treatment of hypertension and heart failure by increasing secretion of endogenous atrial hormones by pacing of the heart. Pacing is done during the ventricular refractory period resulting in premature atrial contraction that does not result in ventricular contraction. Pacing results in the atrial wall stress, peripheral vasodilation, ANP secretion. Concomitant reduction of the heart rate is monitored and controlled as needed with backup pacing.

Abstract: An article that includes a fluorescent composition having at least one of a fluorescent sensor compound and organic reporter molecules encapsulated in a microsphere structure. When encapsulated, the fluorescent sensor compound and the organic reporter molecules are distributed in a liquid organic matrix. When non-encapsulated, the remaining one of the fluorescent sensor compound and the organic reporter molecules reside in the matrix. In response to a force applied to the composition sufficient to break at least a portion of the microsphere structure, the fluorescent sensor compound and the organic reporter molecules are transformed into a non-reversible fluorescent state exhibiting a quantum yield greater than 0.2. The fluorescent state is objectively visually verifiable without physically contacting the composition.

Abstract: A method includes producing a first surface acoustic wave (SAW) on a magnetic head slider using a first interdigitated transducer (IDT), wherein the SAW has a first set of wave characteristics. The method also includes receiving the first SAW at a second IDT on the magnetic head slider. The method also includes analyzing the SAW for a second set of wave characteristics. The method also includes determining, based on the analyzing, that a substance having at least one characteristic is located in a path of the SAW on the magnetic head slider.
