Abstract: An irrigation modeling framework in precision agriculture utilizes a combination of weather data, crop data, and other agricultural inputs to create customized agronomic models for diagnosing and predicting a moisture state in a field, and a corresponding need for, and timing of, irrigation activities. Specific combinations of various agricultural inputs can be applied, together with weather information to identify or adjust water-related characteristics of crops and soils, to model optimal irrigation activities and provide advisories, recommendations, and scheduling guidance for targeted application of artificial precipitation to address specific moisture conditions in a soil system of a field.

Abstract: A method and system for selecting a sub-band in a television white space frequency band may include configuring an antenna matching circuit based on the selected sub-band and configuring a bandpass filter based on the selected sub-band. The method may include receiving a first signal through a radio-frequency path including the antenna matching circuit and not including the bandpass filter, measuring a parameter of received first signal, and determining whether the selected sub-band is usable based on the measured parameter of the received first signal. The method may include receiving a second signal through radio-frequency path including the antenna matching circuit and the bandpass filter, measuring a parameter of the received second signal, and determining whether the selected sub-band is usable based on the measured parameter of the received second signal.

Abstract: Device, methods and systems for the electronic demodulation of optically phase demodulated signals are described. An example optical local oscillator generator configured to generate a radio frequency (RF) tone at a desired RF frequency includes a first input configured to receive a broadband optical pulse train, a second input coupled to a delay line interferometer to receive a first control voltage for controlling a delay value of the interferometer and to produce an output optical pulse train, a dispersive element, coupled to the delay line interferometer, to map the output optical pulse train to a time-domain modulated optical pulse train, an optical-to-electrical converter, coupled to the dispersive element, to convert the time-domain modulated optical pulse train to an analog electrical signal, and an RF filter, coupled to the optical-to-electrical converter, to filter the analog electrical signal to generate the RF tone at the desired RF frequency.

Abstract: The present invention includes pleated paper and planar paper coated with a fire suppressive ink, wherein the pleated paper is Kraft paper with a weight of 25 to 50 pounds, with pleat angles of about 88 to 92°, and pleat heights between approximately 3/32 of an inch and ? of an inch, and the planar paper is Kraft paper with a weight of 40 to 60 pounds. The fire suppressive ink is preferably applied with a flexographic printing process and preferably comprises at least one inorganic fusible salt and an organic resin. The inventive pleated paper is an environmentally friendly packaging material with improved protective qualities, which can also shield items from fire, contain fires, and suppress fires to avoid thermal runaway. The inventive paper is particularly useful for packaging and shipping flammable items, such as lithium-ion batteries.

Abstract: A shingle coating asphalt composition is provided that is produced from a paving grade asphalt. The asphalt composition comprises a paving-grade asphalt that has been modified with one or more polymer additives; and a secondary additive comprising one or more of a viscosity reducing agent, a wax, a salt of a fatty acid ester, and an amide of a fatty acid. The shingle coating asphalt coating composition is used to make a shingle. The shingle includes a substrate, the asphalt, and roofing granules.

The apparatus has a first member, a second member that is removably attachable to the first member, a first magnetic member attached to the first member, a second magnetic member attached to the second member, and at least one attachment portion disposed on the second member. When the first member is removably attached to the second member, a surface of the first member bears against a first surface of the second member. The at least one attachment portion is disposed on a second surface of the second member. The first surface and the second surface are disposed on opposite sides of the second member. The second member is removably attachable to the first member via magnetic attraction between the first and second magnetic members.

Abstract: In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus retrieves health and performance data of one or more hypervisors of the VDI system from a data store. The apparatus also determines that a first hypervisor of the one or more hypervisors is in an alert condition based on the health and performance data. The apparatus then sends an alert message in accordance with the alert condition to an alert destination.

Abstract: A license plate detection and recognition system receives training data comprising images of license plates. The system prepares ground truth data from the training data based predefined parameters. The system trains a first machine learning algorithm based on the ground truth data to generate a license plate detection model. The license plate detection model is configured to detect one or more regions in the images. The one or more regions contains a candidate for a license plate. The LPDR system generates a bounding box for each region. The LPDR system trains a second machine learning algorithm based on the ground truth data and the license plate detection model to generate a license plate recognition model. The license plate recognition model generates a sequence of alphanumeric characters with a level of recognition confidence for the sequence.

Abstract: A geothermal heat mining system can operate within a single primary borehole in a geothermal reservoir. A primary fluid loop can include a cold working fluid line leading into the primary borehole and a hot working fluid line coming out of the primary borehole. A secondary fluid loop can be located down the primary borehole, where the secondary fluid loop is in thermal contact with the geothermal reservoir. A downhole heat mining device can control a rate of heat transfer from the secondary fluid loop to the primary fluid loop by selectively controlling fluid flow through the primary fluid loop, the secondary fluid loop, or both.

Abstract: Methods and systems for providing multimedia status updates are described. One implementation includes a server receiving multimedia data from a transmitting mobile device along with an identifier associated with the transmitting mobile device. The server stores the multimedia data and identifies other mobile devices that have indicated an interest in monitoring the transmitting mobile device. The server also sends notifications including the location of the multimedia data on the server to the other mobile devices. The server sends the multimedia data to a receiving mobile device in response to receiving a request to access the multimedia data from the receiving mobile device.

Abstract: A regenerative braking control system includes at least one sensor adapted to sense a front tire impact event and transmit a sensor signal responsive to the front tire impact event during vehicle braking and a regenerative powertrain interfacing with the at least one sensor and adapted to reduce regenerative braking torque responsive to receiving the sensor signal from the at least one sensor. A regenerative braking control method is also disclosed.

Abstract: The innovation relates to a pool covering system that is usable as a flooring surface. The pool covering system includes brackets that support beams spanning the pool opening. The beams provide structural support to cross members and flooring placed on top of the beams. The pool covering system does not require significant drainage of the pool or damage the pool structure during installation and use.

Abstract: Aspects and techniques of the present disclosure relate to a fiber optic connector assembly including a fiber optic connector with a front end and a back end. A ferrule positioned at the front end. The ferrule has a distal end face with a central region and recessed regions on opposite sides of the central region. The assembly includes a dust cap mounted on the ferrule. The dust cap has an open end and an opposite closed end. The fiber optic connector assembly also includes a tape member that covers the central region of the ferrule. The tape member can be secured to the dust cap such that when the dust cap is removed, the tape member simultaneously comes off with the dust cap.

A channel is located the beam free of the first support. The connector is insertable into a first portion of the channel and a second portion of the connector rotatable into a second portion of the channel and then slidable away from the first portion such that the first and second portions of the connector are retained within the channel but are slidable in the longitudinal direction until the connector is fixedly secured to the beam. The frame is made in certain aspects from a flat plate.
