Abstract: A system and method for controlling a nodal network. The method includes estimating an effect on the objective caused by the existence or non-existence of a direct connection between a pair of nodes and changing a structure of the nodal network based at least in part on the estimate of the effect. A nodal network includes a strict partially ordered set, a weighted directed acyclic graph, an artificial neural network, and/or a layered feed-forward neural network.
Abstract: Disclosed are techniques that use devices with corresponding identity wallet applications that execute on an electronic processor device of the devices, and which identity wallets store identity information and encrypt the stored identity information. A distributed ledger system, and a broker system that interfaces to the wallet and the distributed ledger are used for various information exchange cases pertaining to access to facilities. In particular, disclosed is a registration process to register an identity wallet with a facility.

Abstract: A system includes a locator device and one or more processors operably connected to the locator device. The locator device determines a trailing distance between a trailing vehicle system that travels along a route and a leading vehicle system that travels along the route ahead of the trailing vehicle system in a same direction of travel. The one or more processors compare the trailing distance to a first proximity distance relative to the leading vehicle system. In response to the trailing distance being less than the first proximity distance, the one or more processors set a permitted power output limit for the trailing vehicle system to be less than a maximum achievable power output for the trailing vehicle system, the permitted power output limit being set based on a power-to-weight ratio of the leading vehicle system.

Abstract: A shoe sorter is described. The shoe sorter can include a switch plate that supports movement of a shoe pin of a pusher shoe, a finger, and an actuation arm. In some examples, the finger can be configured to be moved in a first direction in response to a portion of the shoe pin contacting a portion of the finger. The actuation arm can be pivotably engaged to the finger so that a movement of the finger in the first direction can cause a movement of the actuation arm in a second direction. In this regard, the actuation arm in the second direction can cause a change in a signal outputted by the photoelectric sensor coupled to the shoe sorter. This change in the signal can be used by a processor to determine that the shoe pin is misaligned.

Abstract: A two-component solventless adhesive composition is disclosed, the adhesive composition comprising an isocyanate component comprising at least one isocyanate, and a polyol component comprising at least one amine-initiated polyol having a functionality of from 3 to 8 and a hydroxyl number of from 20 to 1,000. Further, a method for forming a laminate is disclosed, the method comprising forming a solventless adhesive composition comprising an amine-initiated polyol, applying a layer of the adhesive composition to a surface of a film, bringing the layer into contact with a surface of another film to form a laminate, and curing the adhesive composition. Still further, a laminate formed by the method is disclosed.
Abstract: The apparatus may include a ridge member, a first arm rotatably coupled to the ridge member and extending outward, relative to the ridge member, in a first plane angled relative to a first pitch of a roof structure. Also, the apparatus may include a second arm rotatably coupled to the ridge member and extending outward, relative to the ridge member, in a second plane angled relative to a second pitch of the roof structure. The ridge member may be positioned at an apex between the first pitch and the second pitch along a ridge of the roof structure. Further, materials for installation may be placed on at least one of the first arm and the second arm positioned between the roof structure and the materials. Additionally, the apparatus may include a load arm coupled at each respective end portion of the first arm and the second arm.
Abstract: Provided is an electronic component mounting structure and method for mounting electronic components on the side of a printed circuit board by means of simple fabrication and enlarging the surface area for mounting electronic components. A cut face of a conductive plating layer, which is obtained by cutting along a via in which a conductive plating layer covering an inner wall face of a via hole is electrically connected to a conductive pattern layer of the printed circuit board, is exposed at a cut end face and used as a land pattern which is solder-connected to a mount connecting portion of the electronic component. The end face at which the land pattern is exposed is a surface parallel to the side of the printed circuit board, and therefore electronic components can be mounted on the end face parallel to the side.
Abstract: A jewelry assembly includes an elongated support and a plurality of charms. Each charm is removably attachable to the support by a snap-fit connection comprising attachment and clip parts, with one of the parts being associated with the support and the other of the parts being associated with the charm. The clip part includes a pair of opposed clip arms that present an open slot and a neck with a gap having a narrower cross-sectional dimension than the slot. The attachment part is received in the slot and has a cross-sectional dimension greater than the gap of the neck. At least one of the attachment and clip parts is flexible so as to flex as the attachment part passes through the neck into the slot.
Abstract: Method for treating hair comprising the application onto hair of polymeric layer(s) which can removed to a large extent or even totally in an easy manner upon request of the user by using oxidizing composition.

Abstract: The invention provides two crystalline freebase forms of biphenyl-2-ylcarbamic acid 1-(2-{[4-(4-carbamoylpiperidin-1-ylmethyl)benzoyl]methylamino}ethyl)piperidin-4-yl ester. The invention also provides pharmaceutical compositions comprising the crystalline freebase or prepared using the crystalline freebases; processes and intermediates for preparing the crystalline freebases; and methods of using the crystalline freebases to treat a pulmonary disorder.
Abstract: An electronic calendar and method of controlling an electronic calendar. A calendar image of a calendar for a person is displayed on a display screen on a display device. The calendar image comprises a plurality of day boxes. A summary of information for the person for a day is displayed in a day box corresponding to the day in the plurality of day boxes. A detail view box is displayed overlaid on the calendar image adjacent to the day box in response to a selection of the day box by an operator. Detailed information for the person for the day is displayed in the detail view box. The detailed information may include work shift information and enable swapping work shifts with others.
