Abstract: The present technology relates to methods for excluding Lynch syndrome as a possible diagnosis in patients suffering from colorectal cancers or endometrial cancers. These methods are based on detecting the methylation status of the MLH1 promoter āCā region in colorectal and endometrial cancer patients using an improved and highly sensitive methylation-specific multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification (MS-MLPA) assay.
Abstract: This disclosure presents a downhole device and method to trigger, shift, and/or operate a downhole device of a drilling string in a wellbore. At a high level, the disclosed device causes a portion of drilling fluids to bypass the drill bit and into the annulus. The bypass may be triggered upon certain conditions related to the rotation speeds of the drill string or other conditions such as the pressure of the drilling fluids. For example, the drill string may be rotated in some protocol of operation (e.g., stop at certain rpm, and/or stop at certain other rpm) to describe a recognizable series of signals to an accelerometer and/or microprocessor that will communicate to pumps or valves to operate or pause/stop operations.

Abstract: The disclosure is generally directed to systems and methods for assisting a physically handicapped individual to obtain a ride in an autonomous vehicle. In one exemplary embodiment, a physically handicapped individual can use a helper application installed in a smartphone to initiate a request for an autonomous vehicle. Upon receiving the request, the helper application determines a first set of location coordinates of the physically handicapped individual and a second set of location coordinates of an autonomous vehicle that is available to provide the ride. The helper application may use the first set and/or the second set of location coordinates to identify a parking spot for the autonomous vehicle. The smartphone then transmits to the autonomous vehicle, a first set of instructions directing the autonomous vehicle to drive to the parking spot, and a second set of instructions to the physically handicapped individual to assist in moving to the parking spot.

Abstract: Techniques for prioritization of data streams include transmitting a plurality of data streams to a first device over a network where each data stream is configured to cause the first device to perform a specific function, dynamically detecting a bandwidth limitation limiting an amount of available bandwidth for transmitting the plurality of data streams, dynamically determining bandwidth reduction criteria by identifying a first subset of the plurality of data streams to stop transmitting based on the specific function that each respective data stream causes the first device to perform, temporarily stopping transmitting of the first subset of data streams configured to cause the first device to perform a first set of functions, and continuing to transmit a second subset of data streams not included in the first subset of the data streams to the first device to cause the first device to continue to perform a second set of functions.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods for screening biological samples for the presence unknown microbes, such as bacteria and archaea or unknown eukaryotes using rRNA gene sequences or other highly conserved genetic regions, across multiple biological samples using a unique sequence tag (barcode) corresponding to the sample. The screening process tracks the unknown microbe or eukaryote in a diluted sample where the DNA has been prepared using whole genome amplification. The whole genome of the unknown microbe or eukaryote is then sequenced and assembled.
