Abstract: Sucker rods include end fittings having an outer wedge portion proximate to an open end, an inner wedge portion proximate to a closed end, and an intermediate wedge portion between the outer and inner wedges. Each wedge includes a leading edge, a trailing edge, and an angle between the leading and trailing edges. The triangular configuration, length of the leading edge, the length of the trailing edge, and size of the angle in each wedge portion cause distribution of force, such that compressive forces distributed to the rod proximate the closed end exceed compressive forces distributed to the rod proximate the open end. An automated installation procedure installs the end fitting through the use of multiple chucks, positioned by servo motors along a fitting table.
Abstract: Techniques for determining unique ownership of data blocks includes selecting a first data block referenced by a first logical address of a first logical device, wherein first metadata for the first data block includes a reference count and a result used in determining sole unique ownership of the first data block; determining C1, an expected value of the result of the first metadata when the first logical device is a sole unique owner of the first data block; and performing first processing that determines whether the first logical device is the sole unique owner of the first data block. The first processing includes: determining whether C1 equals a current value of the result of the first metadata; and determining that the first logical device is the sole unique owner of the first data block if C1 equals the current value of the result of the first metadata.

Abstract: There is disclosed a system and method for detecting potentially unauthorized access to an enclosure. The system and method use an input device, wherein the input device includes a user interface comprising a communication tilt plate with a front side and a back side. The front side comprising an outer touch surface and the back side includes electronic components mounted thereon. The back side also includes a raised center pivot and a plurality of spring loaded switches mounted thereon disposed around the periphery of the back side of the tilt plate. In this way, tilting the communication tilt plate by pressing proximate the periphery of the outer touch surface activates one or more of the spring-loaded switches mounted on the back side of the tilt plate and thereby transmit an access code to a control module. The system and method further include detecting movement of an access barrier of an enclosure and detecting whether a motor and or the access code was used to move the access barrier.
Abstract: Conversations between an intelligent, machine-based chat bot and a user of a website or an application support a computing paradigm called Conversation as a Platform (CaaP) to dynamically generate payment agreements that enable asynchronous actions to be performed for e-commerce transactions which the user may use to confirm the transaction, change the terms (e.g., payment method, ship-to address, shipping method, etc.), or cancel the transaction. Upon opt-in by the user to the payment agreement, a cloud-based wallet provider gives a payment credential URL (Uniform Resource Locator) to the chat bot provider that is called to receive an actual payment credential, and which may also be used for subsequent transactions.

Abstract: Embodiments of a modular motor assembly are disclosed. In some embodiments, a motor comprises a plurality of modular magnetic units, where each of the modular magnetic units includes at least one rotor and at least one stator. The motor further comprises a plurality of structural segments each adapted to support a stator of a corresponding one of the modular magnetic units, where each of the structural segments interlocks with a next structural segment to form a stack. A method of manufacturing a motor includes arranging a selected number of modular magnetic units, coupling the selected number of modular magnetic units to a shaft, coupling the selected number of modular magnetic units to respective structural segments, and forming electrical connections to apply three-phase voltage to stator windings of the modular magnetic units.

Abstract: Synchronization of access controls between computing devices is provided. The system receives a request from a first device. The system performs a session handover to a second device responsive to determining an incompatibility. The system modifies a parameter in an access control database. The system receives a request from a third device. The system provides the digital component to the third device.
Abstract: A method includes obtaining information regarding authentication events for users accessing assets of an enterprise system. The method also includes determining a likelihood of a given asset of the enterprise system becoming compromised responsive to compromise of a given user of the enterprise system. The method further includes determining an importance of the given asset based at least in part on a criticality value associated with the given asset, and generating a risk score for the given asset based at least in part on the determined likelihood of the given asset becoming compromised responsive to compromise of the given user and the determined importance of the given asset. The method further includes identifying remedial actions to reduce the risk score for the given asset and implementing, prior to detecting compromise of the given user, at least one of the remedial actions to modify a configuration of the given asset.

Abstract: A waterfowl decoy having oscillating wings includes an oscillation mechanism in the interior cavity of a waterfowl decoy body, a pair of wings attached to the oscillation mechanism and extending outwardly from the decoy body, each wing including a wing strut having a proximal portion for attachment to the oscillation mechanism, a distal portion extending from the proximal portion, the proximal and distal portions including an elongated band disposed in a wing plane aligned parallel to the longitudinal dimension of the decoy body, the proximal portion comprising reinforcing ribs oriented perpendicularly to the band, such that reciprocating movement of the wing gears causes the wings to oscillate in a motion resembling that of the flapping wings of a bird in flight.
Abstract: A thermal processing and consolidation system includes an upper assembly, a lower assembly, and an air impingement device. At least one of the upper assembly or the lower assembly is a chamber assembly. The upper assembly and the lower assembly are movable relative to one another between an opened position where the upper assembly and the lower assembly are detached from one another, and a closed position where the upper assembly and the lower assembly are coupled to one another and form an enclosed plenum for receiving a tool. The air impingement device is arranged at least partially in the plenum, and configured to direct forced flows of air at the tool when the tool is received in the plenum.

Abstract: A laser is used to induce bonding of LED contact pads with corresponding substrate contact pads on a display substrate. The wavelength of the laser light and the material used for the contact pads are both selected so that the laser light is capable of melting the contact pads. For example, the laser light has a wavelength of between 220 nm and 1200 nm, and the contact pads are formed of a copper-tin oxide (CuSn). Furthermore, the system may be configured to shine the laser light through a number of other components, such as the pick-up head and the LED itself. These materials can be formed of materials that do not absorb the energy of the laser light. Bonding the contacts with a laser in this manner allows for faster heating and cooling times, avoids reheating of previously bonded contact pads, and reduces thermal expansion of the display substrate.

Abstract: A surgical stapling system is disclosed comprising an end effector configurable in an open configuration and a clamped configuration. The end effector comprises a firing member that moves toward an ending position in response to a firing motion. A sensor is configured to produce a signal corresponding to the configuration of the end effector. A rotatable drive screw is drivable by an electric motor and is threadably engaged with the firing member such that rotary motion is converted to the firing motion. A control system is configured to evaluate the signal produced by the sensor and allows the electric motor to provide the firing motion to the firing member if the end effector is in the clamped configuration. The control system does not allow the electric motor to provide the firing motion to the firing member if the end effector is in the open configuration.
