Abstract: A method for applying at least one electronic component to a surface is described. The method includes placing a component stencil on a support. At least one electronic component is arranged in a corresponding opening of the component stencil with a top surface of the electronic component on the support. A contact material stencil is positioned on the component stencil such that at least one opening in the contact material stencil is over a corresponding contact region on the bottom surface of the at least one electronic component. A contact material is applied on the at least one contact region of the at least one electronic component within the corresponding opening of the contact material stencil. The contact material stencil is removed from the component stencil. The component stencil is removed from the support. The at least one electronic component is applied to the surface.

Abstract: A communication system comprises a network configured to support data, voice, and video communications and a docking station coupled to the network and configured to provide data connections to a personal computer wireless device, wherein the personal computer wireless device is configured to communicate with the docking station using light communication. A method for accessing the communication system comprises connecting a personal computer wireless device to a docking station using light communication and identifying a current location of the personal computer wireless device based upon LC with the docking station or an LC access point. One or more selected applications may be enabled or disabled on the personal computer wireless device based upon the current location.
Abstract: Shadow banning a participant within a social VR system includes: receiving and forwarding an identity of the participant, who may be shadow banned; recognizing and tracking inappropriate behaviors including inappropriate language and comments, inappropriate gestures, and inappropriate movements; receiving and processing the recognized and tracked inappropriate behaviors of the participant; generating a safety rating based on the processed inappropriate behaviors; comparing the safety rating to a threshold value; and outputting a signal to label the participant as a griefer and shadow ban the griefer when the safety rating is greater than the threshold value.

Abstract: A method is described. The method includes constructing an image processing software data flow in which a buffer stores and forwards image data being transferred from a producing kernel to one or more consuming kernels. The method also includes recognizing that the buffer has insufficient resources to store and forward the image data. The method also includes modifying the image processing software data flow to include multiple buffers that store and forward the image data during the transfer of the image data from the producing kernel to the one or more consuming kernels.
Abstract: A system and method using a mount assembly for attaching a powertrain to a structural member of a vehicle. The mount assembly includes a first compliant member, a second compliant member, a first fluid chamber, a second fluid chamber, a pressure compliant membrane, electro-magnetorheological switch and a magnetorheological fluid. A fluid conduit interconnects the first fluid chamber with the second fluid chamber to allow a fluid to pass from the first fluid chamber to the second fluid chamber. The pressure compliant membrane seals the aperture in the second fluid chamber. The electro-magnetorheological switch is activated to generate an electric field in the fluid conduit to change the viscosity of the magnetorheological fluid to achieve a first stiffness profile of the mount assembly. The electro-magnetorheological switch is deactivated to remove the electric field in the fluid conduit to change the viscosity of the magnetorheological fluid to achieve a second stiffness profile of the mount assembly.
Abstract: Embodiments relate to placing light emitting diodes from a carrier substrate to a target substrate. At least one LED is embedded in a polymer layer on a substrate. The polymer layer is etched between the at least one LED and the substrate. A thickness of the polymer layer is monitored during etching of the polymer layer. The etching of the polymer layer is terminated responsive to determining that the thickness of the polymer layer is in a target range or a target value. A pick-up-tool (PUT) is brought into contact with at least one surface of the at least one LED facing away from the substrate responsive to dry-etching the polymer layer, and the PUT is lifted with the at least one LED attached to the PUT.
Abstract: Systems and methods for operating a vehicle that includes an engine that may be automatically stopped and started are described. In one example, an engine may be automatically stopped in response to an electric assisted braking threshold level that is adjusted responsive to vehicle speed so that opportunities to automatically stop an engine may be increased, thereby conserving fuel.

Abstract: An improved actuator for use in a microfluidic particle sorting system utilizes a staggered packing scheme for a plurality of actuators used to selectively deflect a particle in an associated sorting channel from a stream of channels. An actuator block may be provided for housing a two-dimensional array of actuators, each configured to align with an actuation port in an associated sorting chip containing a plurality of sorting channels. The actuator block may include a built-in stressing means to pre-stress each actuator housed by the block. An actuator comprising a piezo-electric stack may employ contact-based electrical connection rather than soldered wires to improve packing density. The actuator may be an external actuator. That is, the external actuator is external to the substrate in which the sorting channels are formed.
