  • Patent number: 10990458
Abstract: A system and method for communicating events between applications. A first application receives event information for an event. A first action is performed by the first application in response to receiving the event information. The first application generates an event message comprising an event name and a message payload. The message payload comprises at least a portion of the event information. The first application publishes the event message by sending the event message to an event message pipeline. A second application may listen for the event message in the event message pipeline, receive the event message from the event message pipeline, and use the message payload to perform a second action, wherein the second action is different from the first action.

  • Patent number: 10988110
Abstract: The technology relates to detection of aberrant driving situations during operation of a vehicle in an autonomous driving mode. Aberrant situations may include potential theft or unsafe conditions, which are determined according to one or more signals. The signals are derived from information detected about the environment around the vehicle, such as from one or more sensors disposed on the vehicle. In response to an aberrant situation, the vehicle may take various corrective action, such as rerouting, locking down the vehicle or communicating with remote assistance. The type of corrective action taken may depend on a type of cargo being transported or whether one or more passengers are in the vehicle. If there are passengers, the system may communicate with the passengers via the passenger's client computing devices or by presenting visual or audible information via a user interface system of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 10992379
Abstract: A free space optical communication system transmits and receives optical signals in a colorless manner using an optical circulator. The system installs the optical circulator with a single mode (SM) fiber at port 1, a double clad (DC) fiber at port 2, and a multimode (MM) fiber at port 3. The system injects a first optical signal into a core of the SM fiber. The system then routes the first optical signal at port 1, using the optical circulator, into a SM core of the DC fiber via Port 2. Further, the system injects a second optical signal into a first cladding of the DC fiber. The system then routes the second optical signal at port 2, using the optical circulator, into the MM fiber via Port 3.
