Abstract: A method of video decoding performed in a video decoder is disclosed. A syntax element can be received from a bitstream of a coded video that indicates whether a sequence of pictures are monochrome or include three color components that are coded separately. By inferring a value of a syntax element, a coding tool can be disabled when the syntax element indicates that the sequence of pictures are monochrome or include three color components that are coded separately. The coding tool uses multiple color components of a picture as input or depends on a chroma component of a picture. Examples of the disabled coding tools can include joint coding of chroma residuals, active color transform (ACT), or block-based delta pulse code modulation (BDPCM) for chroma component.

Abstract: Disclosed are compositions for isolating populations of nucleic acids from biological, forensic, and environmental samples. Also disclosed are methods for using these compositions as one-step formulations for killing pathogens, inactivating nucleases, and releasing polynucleotides from other cellular components within the sample, and stabilizing the nucleic acids prior to further processing or assay. The disclosed compositions safely facilitate rapid sample collection and provide extended storage and transport of the samples at ambient or elevated temperature without contamination of the sample or degradation of the nucleic acids contained therein. This process particularly facilitates the collection of specimens from remote locations, and under conditions previously considered hostile for preserving the integrity of nucleic acids released from lysed biological samples without the need of refrigeration or freezing prior to molecular analysis.

  • Publication number: 20210117808
Abstract: A software agent running on a SAN node performs machine learning to adjust caching policy parameters. Learned cache hit rate distributions and cache hit rate rewards relative to baselines are used to dynamically adjust caching parameters such as prefetch size to improve state features such as cache hit rate. The agent may also detect performance degradation. The agent uses efficient state representations to learn the distribution of hit rates as a function of different caching policy parameters. Baselines are used to learn the difference between the baseline cache hit rate and the cache hit rate under an adjusted caching policy, rather than learning the cache hit rate directly.
