Abstract: This invention relates to novel iminium salts, which may be in the form of ionic liquids, and a process for producing electron deficient olefins, such as 2-cyanoacrylates, using such an iminium salt, for instance in the form of an ionic liquid.
Abstract: The present invention provides a child-resistant closure for a container. The closure comprises a dispensing nozzle, a cap for the dispensing nozzle, inter-engaging formations and a resiliently deformable element. The inter-engaging formations provided on the closure hold the cap to the nozzle in an interengaged assembly thereof. The resiliently deformable element biases the cap and the nozzle apart. The inter-engaging formations comprise a retaining slot for receiving a retainer and a retainer for engagement with the retaining slot. The retaining slot, retainer and resiliently deformable element are arranged so that the cap and the nozzle are retained interengaged in the interengaged assembly by bias from the resiliently deformable element. The release of the interengaging formations is achieved by applying sufficient pressure axially to the assembly to overcome the bias of the resiliently deformable element, and sufficient turning force to move the retainer out through the opening of the retaining slot.
Abstract: There is provided a cyanoacrylate composition comprising: a cyanoacrylate; and a 2-substituted benzothiazole or a derivative thereof wherein the 2-substituent is an alkyl, an alkene, an alkylbenzyl, an alkylamino, an alkoxy, an alkylhydroxy, an ether, a sulfenamide, a thioalkyl or a thioalkoxy group, with the proviso that an amide portion of the sulfenamide does not have a tert butylamino or a morpholine group.

Abstract: A curable composition for forming anisotropically conductive bonds comprising: (i) an amount of first substantially uncured curable component; (ii) conductive particles coated with a substantially uniformly thick coating of the cure product of a second curable component dispersed within the first curable cyanoacrylate component. The composition is suitable for use as an adhesive composition for bonding chips to electronic circuits. Desirably the first component and the second component are both cyanoacrylates.

Abstract: Ketimines, enamines and oxazolidines are moisture labile functional groups that in the presence of water undergo hydrolysis to yield free amines. Within the art such latent amines have found utility in curable compositions where it is desirable to initiate cure in the presence moisture. A number of novel polyketimines, polyenamines, polymeric oxazolidines and oxazolidines are disclosed. In particular, polymeric compounds of the above classes derived from C6 cyclic diketones and polyamines are reported. Suitable C6 cyclic diketones include cyclohexanediones and quinones. The invention further relates to the applications of the materials, such as in moisture cure adhesives.
