Abstract: In certain embodiments, a sensing and tracking system detects objects, such as user input devices or peripherals, and user interactions with them. A representation of the objects and user interactions are then injected into the virtual reality environment. The representation can be an actual reality, augmented reality, virtual representation or any combination. For example, an actual keyboard can be injected, but with the keys pressed being enlarged and lighted.

Abstract: An input device comprises a depressible element with two switches including a first switch configured to generate a first signal when the depressible element is depressed by a threshold distance and a second switch configured to generate a second signal indicating when the depressible element is depressed by the threshold distance and the second switch is in an active state. One or more processors may be configured to receive the first signal from the first switch; configure the second switch to change from an inactive state to an active state in response to receiving the first signal; receive the second signal from the second switch in the active state; determine whether the second signal indicates that the depressible element is depressed by the threshold distance; and generate event data confirming that the depressible element is depressed by the threshold distance in response to receiving the second signal.

Abstract: A wireless communication system is provided including a first media device, a second media device, and a third media device, each media device configured to output media content. The first media device is designated as an access point media device that is configured to transmit media content to the second media device and the third media device. The first media device is configured to transmit the media content to the second media device using simplex communication instead of duplex communication based on a first confidence level indicator received from the second media device indicating a high level of confidence. The first media device is configured to transmit the media content to the third media device using duplex communication based on a second confidence level indicator received from the third media device a high level of confidence, and each media device is configured to output the media content in a synchronized manner.

Abstract: In certain embodiments, an input device includes a housing, a processor disposed in the housing, and an image sensor to track a movement of the input device with respect to an underlying surface. The image sensor includes a pixel array and operates in two modes of operation including a first mode of operation where the processor causes the image sensor to utilize a first plurality of pixels in the pixel array when tracking the movement of the input device or a second mode of operation where the processor causes the image sensor to utilize a second plurality of pixels in the pixel array when tracking the movement of the input device, where the second plurality of pixels has fewer pixels than the first plurality of pixels.
Abstract: A peripheral device with an adaptive scroll wheel can be used to provide additional control of a host computing device. A variable force is used to change friction on the adaptive scroll wheel for different situations. Examples include stopping a scroll wheel at an end of a document, changing a number of ratchet steps based on a number of items on a list, and changing scroll profiles based on application, such as a scroll profile for document processing and a scroll profile for gaming.

Abstract: A wireless communication system is provided including a group of media devices that includes a first media device, a second media device, a third media device, and a fourth media device. The first media device, during a first time period, is designated as an access point media device that is configured to transmit media content to each of the other media devices in the group. The second media device is configured to become the access point media device during a second time period and transmit media content to each of the other media devices in the group based on a determination that the second media device is better suited than the first media device to be the access point media device for the group during the second time period. Each media device is configured to output the media content transmitted by the access point media device in a synchronized manner.

Abstract: A method includes receiving sensor data from one or more sensors that corresponds to a location of a stylus device and determining that a tip of the stylus device is in contact with a physical surface based on the sensor data. While in contact, the method includes determining a new location of the tip of the stylus device based on the location data, mitigating a tracking error of the determined new location of the tip of the stylus device by translating the new location from a 3D space domain to a 2D space domain that corresponds to the physical surface and adjusting the new location based on a comparison of the new location and historical locations.

Abstract: A driver circuit is provided to connect a charged capacitor through a switch to the inductive windings of an electromagnet for a haptic feedback application. A feedback circuit provides an indication of the current supplied. When the current reaches a desired level, the current is cut off, rather than being controlled. The cutoff level can be slightly below the desired level to allow the desired level to be reached with overshoot. A diode is provided in parallel with the electromagnet winding when the current is shut off, providing a recirculation path that prevents the current from being discharged, thereby dissipating less energy than classical solutions.
