Abstract: An ergonomic keyboard apparatus comprising a keyboard frame including an ergonomic contour defined in part by a gabled portion of the keyboard frame that is pitched into a contoured peak that forms a first slope and a second slope on either side of the keyboard frame. A plurality of keys are disposed within the keyboard frame such that key tops of each of the plurality of keys follow the ergonomic contour of the keyboard frame. A wrist pad coupled to the keyboard frame has a gabled center portion and a surface contour that corresponds to the ergonomic contour of the keyboard frame defined by its gabled portion, first slope, and second slope. Each location along at least a portion of the surface contour of the wrist pad is elevated to at least a height of corresponding key tops of the plurality of keys.

Abstract: Aspects of the invention include a computer peripheral device comprising an input element that operates based on a performance characteristic, an electropermanent magnet (EPM) assembly including a permanent magnet configured to generate a magnetic field and a magnetizing assembly configured to set an intensity of the magnetic field generated by the permanent magnet, and a magnetorheological (MR) material coupled to the input element. The MR material has a viscosity that changes based on the magnetic field and affects the performance characteristic of the input element.

Abstract: The present disclosure generally provides an apparatus and method of controlling an audible signal generated by an audio device to improve the sound quality of the generated audible signal and/or sound quality perceived by a user. In some embodiments, the audio device is able to improve the sound quality generated by the audio device that is generating audible sound based on any type of audio signal. The processes described herein allow the audible signal processor to determine the acoustic fingerprint of the environment in which the audio device is positioned, and thus by use of the method steps disclosed herein to optimize the sound quality in one or more frequency bands of a generated audible signal in real time based on the determined acoustic fingerprint.

Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure provided herein can be used to improve the control, selection and transmission of data to a remote video conferencing environment, by use of a plurality of wired or wirelessly connected electronic devices. In one example, the transmission of data from a local environment can be improved by switching the source of visual inputs (e.g., cameras or display of an electronic device, such as laptop) and/or audio inputs (e.g., microphones) to the one or more appropriate visual and audio sources available within the local environment. The most appropriate visual and audio sources can be the sources that provide the participants in the remote environment the most relevant data giving the remote users the best understanding of the current activities in the local environment.

Abstract: An apparatus including a removable modular insert disposed within a housing of a host device, the housing including one or more magnets, and one or more conductive contacts disposed on the removable modular insert to magnetically couple to the one or more magnets and secure the modular insert within the housing of the host device, and electrically couple the modular insert to the host device. A conductive coil can be coupled to the modular insert to electromagnetically receive power from a base device having a surface, where the host device moves and operates along the surface of the base device. The apparatus can include a communication device and a processor to control the communication device for communication between the modular insert and the host device, and control operation of the conductive coil. The communication device further controls the electromagnetic coupling between the modular insert and the base device.

Abstract: A peripheral device for a computing system comprises an electrical switch and a user depressible button. An electrostatic brake is attached to the user depressible button and controls a force profile of the keystroke of the user depressible button. The button is coupled to and is configured to actuate the electrical switch at the end of the keystroke. A movable electrode is coupled to the depressible button and a stationary electrode is positioned parallel to and proximate the movable electrode. A dielectric material is positioned between the movable electrode and the stationary electrode forming an electrostatic brake. An electrical circuit is coupled to the first and the second electrodes and is configured to apply a voltage potential between the first and the second electrodes to apply a resistive force to the depressible button.
Abstract: In some embodiments, an input device for interfacing within an VR/AR environment can include a processor, one or more motion tracking sensors to track a motion of the input device in three-dimensional (3D) space, where a cursor in the VR/AR environment moves based on the tracked motion of the input device in 3D space and is limited to tracked motion having three degrees of freedom (DOF). The input device can further include a button that, when activated, selects an application window in the VR/AR environment when the cursor is placed over the application window, where the application window moves in the VR/AR environment based on the tracked motion of the input device in 3D space while the application window is selected. The input device can include a user interface that, when activated, accesses and controls content on the selected application window.
