Abstract: An active substance-containing transdermal pharmaceutical preparation with a given size of contact surface, comprising a tack-free backing layer which is permeable to active substances and an adhesive layer adhering to the skin is characterized by the fact that the backing layer comprises at least a third of the total active substance amount contained in the preparation.
Abstract: The invention relates to reservoirs with a delivery surface for the controlled delivery of active substances decreasing over the time of use to solid, liquid or gaseous acceptors and whereby at least at one point of the reservoir a cross-sectional surface of the reservoir is parallel to the delivery surface and smaller in area than the delivery surface. The invention also relates to an apparatus for the controlled delivery of active substances decreasing over the time of use, which has at least one reservoir. At least one active substance to be delivered is active in the technical, human and veterinary medical, cosmetic and pest control sectors.

Abstract: A device for the release of substances from pressure sensitive hot-melt adhesives with a uniform or non-uniform distribution of said substances is characterized by the fact that the pressure sensitive hot-melt adhesive is hydrophilic and comprises at least one water-soluble, or at least water-swellable, polymer, at least one water-soluble, meltable adhesive resin, as well as substance to be released.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process and a device for the production of a flat administration form comprising a preparation that contains pharmaceutical active substances. The flowable preparation is conveyed to an applicator unit (12) by means of a metering pump, and flows through a distribution chamber (2) having a distribution plate (3) provided with passages (4). This application device (12) transfers the preparation onto a layer of the flat administration form (6,11) which is therefor contacted with the distribution plate (3) for a short time.

Abstract: A transdermal therapeutic system for the release of active substances to a substrate is characterized by the structure of the system comprising a substrate (1) provided with a separating layer (2), a film layer (3) comprising the active substance, and a protective layer (4) provided with a nonstick finish, the separating layer (2) consisting of a material whose bond to the film layer (3) may be abolished. By means of printing methods, such systems having small application thickness and high flexibility can be manufactured, it being possible to provide a substrate that has been rendered adhesive as an alternative to the substrate/separating layer-complex. A printing method limiting the active substance-containing region to the application site reduces disposal problems.

Abstract: Active ingredient-containing layered articles or discs which are suitable, in particular, as active ingredient reservoirs for transdermal therapeutic systems are obtained starting from an elongate article having an enveloping surface corresponding to the contour of the layered articles to be produced, and having a cross-sectional constitution corresponding to the internal structure of the layered articles, by layered detachment perpendicular to the axial direction of the elongate article. In the simplest case, this article consists of a uniform active ingredient-containing composition and forms a solid cylinder which is converted into single products perpendicular to the axis with identical spacing to result in circular one-compartment discs identical to one another.
Abstract: A volume-expandable, sheet-like application form suitable as an active substance carrier, in particular for oral application, in the form of a film comprising a mixture of fillers, cleansers, cosmetics, or active substances, film formers, and softeners has portions of a highly absorbent hydrogel former which swells on contact with water and assumes several times its original volume.
Abstract: A method for the application of an active substance patch for controlling or alleviating an addiction such as drug addiction, addiction to pills or analgesia is characterized in that two or more active substance patches are applied simultaneously, sequentially or alternately within a given therapy plan under surveillance of the blood level of the active substance in a way that allows the achievement of an active substance blood level which is high enough for a successful suppression of the addiction and remains constantly effective throughout a useful period of administration.
