  • Patent number: 8796484
Abstract: A polymerizable dimethicone copolyol macromer composition is synthesized by reacting itaconic anhydride with a dimethicone copolyol. During the reaction itaconic anhydride spontaneously isomerizes to citraconic anhydride which in turn is esterified by the dimethicone copolyol. The obtained macromers are copolymerizable with olefinically unsaturated monomers. Polymers containing the macromer repeating units are useful in a variety of applications including personal care, textile and industrial formulations to deliver softness, lubricity, fixative, water repellency, gloss, surface modification, and surfactant properties.

  • Publication number: 20140144538
Abstract: A fluid handling assembly provides conduits that deliver fluids therethrough. The fluid conduits include pipes, having an inner annular layer (2) of CPVC material, an intermediate annular layer (3) of metallic material and an outer annular layer (4) of CPVC material. Pipes are joined using inserts (9) that are engaged in cemented relation with a coupling. The inserts are configured to resist deformation at relatively high pressures that reduces the risk of separation of the layers of the pipe due to fluid infiltration between such layers.

  • Publication number: 20140138105
Abstract: An aqueous fire sprinkler fluid containing low carbon number carboxylate salts for freezing point depression is described. The salts may be used in conjunction with glycols. The salts decrease the combustibility of the glycol containing fluids and give lower viscosity than higher glycol fluids, both benefitting fire sprinkler systems. These salt solutions are friendly to metal and CPVC pipes and are thus useful for fire sprinkler systems by not causing environmental stress cracking of the CPVC components and not being corrosive to the metal parts.
