  • Patent number: 4247309
Abstract: A process and apparatus for the separation of gas bubbles from a liquid which is subjected to a flow, in which a flowing portion of the liquid is brought into contact with an arcuate wall at an opening and deflected into a relatively quiescent liquid along a surface, so as to produce a vortex at the contact surface between the two liquid portions in such a manner as to project the vortex into the flowing portion as well as into the relatively quiescent portion, and whereby its axis extends in parallel or almost parallel to the contact surface, so that gas bubbles will be conducted from the flowing liquid portion by the vortex into the relatively quiescent liquid portion, from which the gas bubbles will then separate out under the influence of buoyant force.

  • Patent number: 4245895
Abstract: Supporting structure for reflectors consisting of interconnected supporting bars arranged in parallel spaced relationship, having the reflectors mounted thereon side by side in a single plane. The length of the bars is at a maximum the width of one reflector. At least two of these supporting bars are interconnected through transversely directed cross-members which, in turn, are fastened onto a central upright extending essentially parallel to the supporting bars.

  • Patent number: 4236426
Abstract: A method and arrangement for the traversing of critical rotational speeds of elongate rotors. At least one critical frequency altering means in the form of springs, dampers and masses may be operatively connected, singly or in combination, to the rotor to thereby produce a change in the frequencies and/or amplitudes of the rotor, or in the critical rotational speeds and their amplitudes.

  • Patent number: 4220083
Abstract: To provide for engagement between adjacent bearer rings throughout their entire engagement line or surface, in spite of slight misalignment or tilting of the actual axis of rotation of the shaft of the printing cylinder with which the bearer ring is associated, the bearer ring is located on the shaft of the printing cylinder with a slightly spherical engagement surface, preferably by attaching a hub to the shaft having a slightly convex outer surface which matches a slightly concave inner surface of the bearer ring. Preferably, a shock-absorbing, wear-resistant elastic material is interposed between the respective engagement surfaces. To permit alignment of the bearer ring with respect to the cylinder, and exact concentricity, eccentric alignment pins are provided, engaging the bearer ring and the end face of the printing cylinder, at least three such attachment arrangements being located circumferentially on the end face of the printing cylinder, and bearer ring, respectively.

  • Patent number: 4197713
Abstract: A process and a plant for the recovery of water from humid air are disclosed. Humid ambient air flows through an adsorber in which an adsorbing agent removes moisture from the air by adsorption. Subsequently, air heated by an air heater and delivered by a fan flows through the adsorber in order to recover by desorption the moisture from the moistened adsorbing agent. Thereafter, the water vapor-containing air is precooled in a counterflow heat exchanger and subsequently conducted into a condenser in which heat is extracted from it by means of a heat pump so that the water vapor condenses and is available in the form of liquid water. The air cooled and dried in the condenser is utilized in the counterflow heat exchanger for precooling the air fed into the condenser. The heat given off by the heat pump is supplied to the air heater in order to be utilized therein for heating the air flowing through the air heater.
