Abstract: A formulation for use to treat a person who snores when he or she sleeps, the said formulation comprising an effective amount of yohimbine (3.alpha.-15.alpha.-20.beta.-17.alpha.-hydroxy yohimbine-16.alpha.carboxylic acid methyl ester) and pharmaceutically tolerable forms thereof (for example, salts, esters and the like), in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
Abstract: A rotary internal combustion engine having spherical pistons mounted in radially arranged cylinders formed in a stacked series of rotatable cylindrical members. A stationary cam surface is located around the rotatable member to maintain contact with the pistons. A stationary member located with the rotatable cylindrical member provides fresh fuel mixture, withdraws exhaust products, and provides ignition as required. Power is taken from the rotating cylindrical members at the end of the engine through a planetary gear train.
Abstract: A family of novel and unique synthetic alkali metal alumino-silicates (SAMS) are produced by the hydrothermal reaction between kaolin and alkali metal silicates. The integrated composition of the SAMS products is a unique entity having an overall composition ofxM.sub.2 O:Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 :ySiO.sub.2 :zH.sub.2 Owhere x is the number of moles of alkali metal oxide and is an integer from 0.01 to 2.0, M is the alkali metal, y is the number of moles of SiO.sub.2 in the unique SAMS compositions and is an integer greater than 2.0, and z is the number of moles of bound water and is an integer ranging from 1.0 to 5.0. The unique SAMS compositions are structured materials in which the structure can be controlled, and are therefore useful as functional fillers, as TiO.sub.2 extenders, as silica extenders or as reinforcing agents for paper, paint, rubber, plastics and specialty products.
Abstract: A method of reducing blockages and call interruption in handling over calls in a cellular mobile radio system. When the signal strength from a base station to a mobile and vice versa falls below a given value the handover shall take place to another base station. In order that the call will not be interrupted, a smaller number of channels are reserved, so-called rescue channels, from the ordinary channels in the system. The rescue channels can be fixed or dynamic for a given base station.

Abstract: On a coating device, at the mouth originating from the chamber for the coating substance, there is provided, between said mouth and the backing roll or web, a cover body which on its surface near the mouth forms an outlet channel that extends away from the space through which at the doctor blade flows the coating substance. This outlet channel has a throttle effect. Additionally, the cover body forms relative to the doctor blade a second throttle channel which is located relatively close to the smoothing edge of the doctor blade. At the outlet of the second throttle channel, the cover body preferably extends into a point which is arranged relatively close to the backing roll or web. The outlet channel can suitably be formed between a base body and the cover body, with the base body ending at a distance from the doctor blade that is maximally 10 mm greater than the clearance of the second throttle channel.
Abstract: A steerable mole for making a hole in the ground has a round tubular body, a guidable drilling instrument mounted in front on this body via a ball and socket joint, a device mounted in the body in order to guide the drilling instrument in relation to the body. The ball of the ball and socket joint is fixed to the drilling instrument, while the device for guiding the drilling instrument has a steering element situated in the body which turns round the longitudinal axis of the body of which the front is directed obliquely at this longitudinal axis of the body and works together with the back of the ball of the ball and socket joint. Another device rotates the steering element around the longitudinal axis of the body.
Abstract: A hydrocyclone has a separating part A with a diameter which toward its outlet end for the heavier fraction decreases gradually from a diameter 2 R.sub.a, with the radius being subject to the formula:R=R.sub.a .multidot..sqroot.1-x/1.This describes essentially the shape of a parabola, so that the separating part can practically be considered as a paraboloid. Achieved thereby is an optimum separating performance of the hydrocyclone.

Abstract: The present invention provides an alternative strategy for baculovirus-mediated foreign gene expression: the promoters from immediate-early or delayed-early baculovirus viral genes were used to obtain the continuous expression of foreign genes in stably-transformed insect cells. The IE1 or the 30K promoters from Autographa californica nuclear polyhedrosis virus can drive the continuous expression of a foreign gene in insect cells. IE1-.beta.-galactosidase or 39K-.beta.-galactosidase constructs were used in combination with the IE1-neomycin resistanThe Government may have rights in this invention pursuant to a funding agreement with the National Science Foundation (NSF), Grant No. DMB-88 04732.
Abstract: A vibrational cleaning apparatus is presented that has a base with a plurality of suction cup legs attached. Included is a reciprocating armature motor and a tubular housing releasingly attached to the base. The reciprocating armature motor imparts a vibrational pulse to the base. A support disc is releasingly attached to an inside surface of a wall of the tubular housing. A solution container is within the tubular housing and is in intimate contact with the disc. A spring clip, to releasingly suspend and retain items to be cleaned, is attached to the tubular housing. A timer switch, to activate the motor for preselected periods of time, is attached to and passes through the wall of the housing. A wallk plug extends through a base port in the base to the motor and is plugged into a source of AC power.
Abstract: A fruit juice mix suitable for hard pack product made essentially from natural ingredients containing at least one fruit juice source in association with about 0.05 to 1.5 percent by weight of various stabilizers and preferably 0.30 to 0.60 percent xanthan gum based upon the total weight of the mix. An amount of water and other ingredients such that the blend has a brix value of greater than about 10 to about 35 and for more desirable results of 20 to 30 and preferably 20 to 25. Abstract: A method for manufacturing a ceramic reinforced piston and a molding machine therefor. A composite product composed of a cast product made of aluminum alloy or the like and shaped inorganic short fiber, particles or the like is obtained so that mechanical strength, wear resistance, heat resistance and the like of such composite product can be increased. Furthermore, mass production of such composite products becomes possible. A suitable amount of ceramic particles or a shaped inorganic short fiber is introduced in a casting mold, a molten metal such as an aluminum alloy and the like is then poured in the casting mold, and an upper punch is suitably pushed down on the molten metal to pressurize such molten metal in the casting mold. Push rams are additionally introduced laterally into the mold before or during the pouring of the molten metal to compensate for any shortage of molten metal and assure the metal penetrates the particles of fiber. The metal solidifies under pressure.
