  • Patent number: 7521398
Abstract: A method of using a water-base wellbore fluid in subterranean wells that penetrate through a subterranean formation containing a shale which swells in the presence of water. The well bore fluid includes, an aqueous based continuous phase, and a shale hydration inhibition agent. One illustrative shale hydration inhibition agent is preferably the reaction product of a hydrogenation reaction of the product of the reaction of an aromatic amine with an aldehyde, preferably formaldehyde. Alternatively the shale hydration inhibition agent may be the reaction product of a hydrogenation reaction of the product of the reaction of aniline and formaldehyde. In one illustrative embodiment, the shale hydration inhibition agent is selected from the class of compounds known as polycycloaliphatic amines. Further the shale hydration inhibition agent may be present in the form of a free-base or in the form of an acid salt of the disclosed amine compounds.

  • Patent number: 7522689
Abstract: In a frequency hopped wireless network, more robust method and system are disclosed for recovering clock synchronization. The method and system of the invention relies on the fact that correct decoding of a received packet occurs only when the same clock value is used to generate the decoding sequence at both the sender and the receiver. Several decoding sequences are tried based on different clock values to decode the packet. The different clock values used may be adjacent or nearby an initial estimated clock value. The clock value of the first decoding sequence to result in a correctly decoded packet is taken as the proper clock value for synchronization. Correct decoding is determined by checking the CRC of the packet.

  • Patent number: 7523492
Abstract: The present invention describes a gateway in an Open Service Access (OSA) network where Service Level Agreement (LSA) checks are performed by a Framework (15) on a Central Gateway node (1). A distinction is made between applications (10) that can be trusted, like applications provided by the same firm as the gateway, and other applications (12) that are not trusted for security reasons. Access request coming from the applications for accessing Service Capability Servers (SCSs) (4, 5) are checked by the framework (15). Now the trusted applications (10) can get direct access to the Service Capability Servers (4, 5), but the untrusted applications (12) are only allowed to access so-called proxy SCSs (9) on the Central Gateway node (1). The proxy SCSs (9) have the same interface as the SCSs (4, 5) running on the distant nodes (2, 3), and are downloaded by the Framework (15) from the distant SCS nodes (2, 3) to the Central Gateway node (1) during an initialization phase.

  • Publication number: 20090095192
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a pair of guideway engagement members having a controller circuit is configured on a transport vehicle that travels over an elongated guideway. The pair of guideway engagement members have a corresponding pair of bearing members that are each disposed on opposing sides of the guideway. The controller circuit receives a measurement indicative of dynamic movement of the transport vehicle from one or more sensors, and adjusts the stiffness of the pair of guideway engagement members according to the measurements received from the sensors.

  • Publication number: 20090095846
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a guideway switching mechanism includes an elongated section of flexible guideway coupled to a switch plate. The flexible guideway has a first end that may be coupled to a first elongated guideway and a second end that may be selectively coupled to one of a multiple quantity of alternative guideways. The switch plate provides selective coupling of the flexible guideway to multiple alternative guideways by movement through an arcuate path such that the automated transport vehicle may selectively move from the first elongated guideway to either of the alternative guideways.

  • Publication number: 20090097601
Abstract: The present invention is a system and a method of filtering a signal at a receiver, the signal having at least a desired channel and blockers. A first converter converts a first copy of the signal resulting in a relatively narrow band, high-resolution first signal. A second converter converts a second copy of the signal resulting in a relatively wide band, low-resolution second signal. Once each copy of the signal is converted, the copies are passed to a combiner. At the combiner, the two copies of the signal are analyzed and the desired channel is extracted from the first copy of the signal by removing any inter-modulation product caused by any interference detected in the second copy from the blockers (not detected in the first copy).

  • Publication number: 20090098866
Abstract: A method (200) for a cellular system (100), with an RBS (120) which controls a cell (110) with User Equipments UE (130, 140). The RBS and the UEs exchange data which may comprise sequence numbers, and exchange reports on whether or not data has been received successfully, so that both the UE and the RBS can be the reporting party and the report receiving party. The reporting party sends a report (210) to the report receiving party on whether or not data has been received successfully, together with data to the report receiving party or to another party in the cell. The reporting party decides (220) the contents of the report using one of the following priority rules: Data with lower delay tolerance is given priority, Data detected as received in error is given priority, Data is given priority according to block sequence numbers.

  • Patent number: 7516851
Abstract: A retainer holds an electronic communication device used to detect breaks in porous elements of material separators to the frame of the separator. The retainer includes a ferrule affixed around a hole through the frame of the separator, a housing made from an RF transmissible material sealingly held within the ferrule, and a cap sealingly held against the ferrule. The electronic component is held by the cap such that it is situated within the housing. Such a retainer is affixed to frames of the separator on opposing sides of a porous element so that a transmitter may be retained in a first retainer and a receiver retained in a second retainer. The transmission of a signal from the transmitter that is received by the receiver indicates a break in the porous element between the components.
