  • Patent number: 7037480
Abstract: Significant amounts of soluble fluoride, known to create problems in processes requiring high quality grade calcium chloride, are removed from calcium chloride solution using hydroxyapatite as a removal mechanism. Under acidic conditions, calcium chloride solution is purified to about less than 10 ppm fluoride, significantly, to less than 1 ppm fluoride. At least 0.1 weight percent hydroxyapatite and concentrated hydrochloric acid are added to calcium chloride solution and slurried to remove fluoride and create a highly purified calcium chloride solution, substantially free of fluoride.

  • Patent number: 7036289
Abstract: A wrapping machine and/or a top foil wrapping machine machine frame, which is supported on a fixed base and has upright vertical columns and horizontal cross members connecting the vertical columns to each other. Each vertical column has at least two column parts detachably joined together end on end, the column parts including a lower column part and an upper column part. Only the lower column parts of the vertical columns are connected to each other by the cross members while the upper column parts are not connected to each other. To store and/or transport the machine, the machine is reduced to a low size (A) for packaging, by detaching the upper column parts from the lower column parts of the vertical columns. The upper column parts may be reattached to the lower column parts to install the machine from the packaged size (A) to a full working size (B).

  • Patent number: 7038119
Abstract: A wavetable synthesizer is controlled by dynamically determining a present CPU loading estimate associated with a song being played by the wavetable synthesizer. An interpolation degree is determined based on the present CPU loading estimate, and the wavetable synthesizer is adjusted to utilize the interpolation degree when playing the song. This technique can be used to enable the wavetable synthesizer to generate a varying number of simultaneous voices at, for example, a highest-quality without exceeding a predetermined maximum permissible CPU load limit.

  • Patent number: 7037832
Abstract: A method for forming a conductive or magnetic pattern for a semiconductor or other electronic device includes patterning a mask layer outwardly from a conductive layer of the semiconductor device. The patterning defines portions of the conductive layer where vias through the conductive layer are desired. The method also includes exposing the semiconductor device to a plasma. The plasma converts the unmasked portions of the conductive layer into a compound. The method further includes exposing the semiconductor device to a treatment process to selectively remove the compound. The mask layer may be removed either before or after removal of the compound, thereby providing the unmasked conductive layer in the desired pattern.

  • Patent number: 7033976
Abstract: A new fluid system additive is provided that serves to disperse and maintain fluid system solids in a stabilized condition and also “toughen” the filter cake. Fluid systems containing this additive also tolerate calcium contamination better than existing additives, and in laboratory tests simulating well conditions, the treated fluid systems demonstrate good fluid properties at high temperatures (e.g. 250° F.) in contrast to similar fluid systems treated with conventional, more costly additives. In a preferred embodiment, a composition or additive for use in hydrocarbon exploitation includes a biopolymer derived from at least one species of the family Musaceae.

  • Patent number: 7030515
Abstract: A single-pole multiple-throw RF switch includes first and second FET arrangements, each having a gate and a controlled current path (CCP). One end of the CCP of each FET is connected to a common port by way of an arrangement which blocks DC flow between the FETs, but allows RF flow. Bias is applied to the gates of the FETs to enable RF flow through the CCP of a selected one and not through the others. One version uses a single bias source and cross-coupled resistors, and another version uses plural bias sources switched to the various FETs.

  • Patent number: 7032081
Abstract: A system and method for enabling concurrent usage of non-volatile memory for code execution and data storage/processing, comprising a hardware mechanism that can support automatic suspend and resume operations. This mechanism entails the integration of a suspend logic circuit and a resume logic circuit into the chip hardware, or the stationing of the logic chip in any way that it can operate together with the chip. This system and method enable a Flash memory chip to process code execution while it is processing erase/program operations, avoiding conflicts that ordinarily crash such a system. This is achieved by sensing the operation status of the chip and the CPU/Bus activity, and commanding the flash memory device to suspend and/or resume program/erase operations at appropriate times, so as not to conflict with read requests.

  • Publication number: 20060078414
Abstract: A load change safety system in which a sheet stacker having a stacking deck formed with a discharge end discharges sheet material onto and builds a sheet stack on a conveying sheet stack removal system formed with a receiving means. A variable pinch point gap is formed by relative motion between the discharge end of the stacking deck and the receiving means of the conveying sheet material removal system. The safety system includes redundant means selectively preventing a decrease in the variable pinch point gap. The redundant means of the safety system preferably includes an electro-optical light guard means operably connected to the redundant means with one or more redirections of light beams to create a light guard perimeter guarding portions of the stacker and sheet removal system to guard against access to the pinch point.

  • Publication number: 20060075954
Abstract: A watercraft with at least one onboard propulsion engine includes at least two hulls and a wing-like deck structure spanning the two hulls (a floating wing). Port and starboard skirts combine with the deck structure to form port and starboard planing channels. The deck structure includes an upwardly facing surface that slopes downwardly toward an aft end of the deck structure in order to provide aerodynamic lift. Preferably, a speed-responsive exhaust proportioning system vents exhaust at vertical steps in planing surfaces on the hulls to reduce drag, increase lift, and reduce thermal signature. One embodiment includes hinged laterally extending deck extensions that an operator can raise to reduce vessel breadth during docking, upwardly extending barriers on the deck extensions that reduce the escape of wind laterally, and hinged flap structures disposed rearwardly that enable an operator to adjust vessel trim.
