  • Patent number: 7080495
Abstract: A wrapping apparatus, in which the supporting elements supporting a film roll are mounted on the frame of a film dispenser with bearings permitting free rotation so that the film roll supported by them is freely rotatable. The pre-stretching rollers are mutually engaged via a transmission and are likewise mounted on the frame with bearings permitting free rotation. A pendulum roller in the film dispenser and the spring force of a spring applying a load on it have been so adapted that the pendulum roller forms between the second pre-stretching roller and the deflecting roller a bend that functions as a film supply containing a varying amount of film, depending on the prevailing draw of the film to keep the drawing velocity and tension of the film substantially constant at the pre-stretching rollers regardless of the variation in the draw and velocity of the film that is caused by the shape of the article being wrapped.

Abstract: Congestion in a radio access network (RAN) associated with transporting uplink information originating from one or more mobile terminals is detected. That detected RAN congestion is reduced using any suitable technique (several examples are described) and may be implemented in one or more nodes in the RAN. One advantageous (but non-limiting) application is to a RAN that supports high speed uplink packet access (HSUPA) and/or one or more enhanced uplink dedicated channels (E-DCHs).

  • Publication number: 20060152405
Abstract: A process of determining target parameters of an object within a field of detection of an automotive radar system, the process comprising the steps of: (a) establishing a target range from a sequence of ranges; (b) dwelling on the target range for an initial dwell time to obtain sensor data; (c) determining if the sensor data corresponds to the presence of an object or to the absence of an object at the target range based on probability density distributions of an object being present and being absent at the target range, and if such the determination cannot be made, then repeating steps (b)-(c) until the determination can be made; (d) if the sensor data is determined to correspond to the presence of an object in step (c), then dwelling at the target range for an extended dwell time to obtain additional sensor data for determining the target parameters of the object before proceeding to step (e); and (e) establishing the next of the sequence of ranges as the target range before reiterating steps (b)-(e).

  • Publication number: 20060153081
Abstract: Route selection through a wireless mesh network between a source node and a destination node is based on minimizing generated interference in order to increase the capacity of the network. An interference energy associated with transmitting a packet over each hop in multiple routes from the source node to the destination node is determined. The interference energy for each hop is combined to generate a combined interference energy for each route. One of the routes is selected based on the combined interference energy determined for each route.

  • Patent number: 7075491
Abstract: The invention is directed to methods, devices and systems for receiving satellite radio broadcast signals by a portable device with multiple complementary antennas. Portable device, as used herein, indicates a device having a size that may be conveniently carried by a person in the fashion of portable AM/FM radios, CD players, MP3 players, etc. For example, the device may be clipped to an article of clothing. The invention particularly concerns a portable device antenna system for receiving a satellite radio broadcast. In an embodiment of the invention, a portable satellite radio device includes primary and supplemental antennas. The primary antenna covers a substantial portion of the azimuth direction and a vertical elevation within the range of about 20 to 60 degrees of vertical elevation. In one embodiment the primary antenna is a circularly polarized antenna. In use, however, part of the coverage in the azimuth direction will normally be blocked by a body of a person.
