    Abstract: Disclosed are the dbp gene and dbp-derived nucleic acid segments from Borrelia burgdorferi, the etiological agent of Lyme disease, and DNA segments encoding dbp from related borrelias. Also disclosed are decorin binding protein compositions and methods of use. The DBP protein and antigenic epitopes derived therefrom are contemplated for use in the treatment of pathological Borrelia infections, and in particular, for use in the prevention of bacterial adhesion to decorin. DNA segments encoding these proteins and anti-(decorin binding protein) antibodies will also be of use in various screening, diagnostic and therapeutic applications including active and passive immunization and methods for the prevention of Borrelia colonization in an animal. These DNA segments and the peptides derived therefrom are contemplated for use in the preparation of vaccines and, also, for use as carrier proteins in vaccine formulations, and in the formulation of compositions for use in the prevention of Lyme disease.

A sequence of offset sheets (4a, 4b) is formed on folding rollers (7a, 7b) which are counter-rotating with respect to each other and have a plurality of circumferential grooves (15a, 15b), in which oscillating folding arms engage (20a, 20b) so as to form a stack (17) of interfolded sheets (4a, 4b). The folding arms (20a, 20b) have pivots (21) very close to the periphery of the folding rollers (7a, 7b), inside or outside of the grooves (15a, 15b). Moreover they can be operated by a crank mechanism that allows to the grooves (15a, 15b) to be shallow enough also in case of rollers (7a, 7b) of enlarged diameter. For the same reason, the folding arms (20a, 20b) can have a bent portion.

    Abstract: The present invention comprises a method and apparatus for synchronizing data frames from a wide bandwidth data stream which is divided up and transmitted across a plurality of parallel channels in a mobile telephone system. Prior to transmitting the data frames, a transmit synchronizer synchronizes data frames aligned in the same position in different parallel channels by inserting a common bit from a repeating PN synchronization sequence into the aligned data frames. Upon receiving the data frames at a destination, a receive synchronizer extracts the synchronization bit from each data frame. A series of sequential bits from each parallel channel is compared against the original PN synchronization sequence to identify the position of each data frame relative to the other data frames and reconstructs the original wide bandwidth data stream.

Under the method, at least one area of the customer's business in which using the provider's offering will create economic benefits for the customer is first identified. Next, money values are assigned to the at least one area of the customer's business in which use of the provider's offering will create economic benefits. The money values are then compiled by a computer system into an initial value share. In the next step, it is mathematically determined which portion of the initial value share will constitute the price at which the provider will provide the offering to the customer for an initial interval of time. After calculating the initial value share and after the initial interval of time, a new value share for a current interval is generated based upon a previously calculated value share for an immediately past interval.

    Abstract: An antenna presenting improved polarization isolation is disclosed which presents at least two columns of rectangular micro-strip or patch elements which each has a single, linear polarization. Each column presents radiation elements of either about +45 or −45 degrees. At least two such columns are combined such that an antenna is obtained which then becomes dual polarized. Furthermore the columns are arranged such that the patches are alternately sidewise displaced to form a herringbone pattern. In other words a next patch of one column is placed on the symmetry lines through nearby patches of the other column. In this way the coupling between the patches is minimized and a high isolation is achieved between the two states of polarization. The achieved two linear states of polarization are utilized separately for polarization diversity.

    Abstract: A home location register (HLR) and method of routing a call directed to a portable directory number in a radio telecommunications network. The network includes an originating mobile switching center (O-MSC) and a Number Portability Database (NPDB). The O-MSC first sends a Location Request (LOCREQ) message to the HLR requesting a routing number. The LOCREQ message includes a dialed directory number. The HLR determines whether a routing number is assigned to the dialed directory number. If not, the HLR sends a Number Portability Request (NPREQ) message to the NPDB and includes the dialed directory number. A location routing number (LRN) assigned to the dialed directory number is then retrieved from the NPDB and sent to the HLR. The HLR forwards the LRN to the O-MSC, which then routes the call to the LRN.

In the first correlator, frequency-spreading of the measurement signal takes place. The frequency-spreading measurement signal is connected to the second input of the second correlator and to the sending electrode. The measurement electrode is connected to the first input of the second correlator.

    Abstract: An efficient and repeatable method for manufacturing a protectively coated helical conductor antenna. The helical conductor is threaded onto a temporary, removable support, such as a bolt including a shaped head and a shank having threads to hold the helical conductor. After being threaded on the bolt, the entire winding and the bolt shank are placed within an injection mold cavity. The mold also includes a recess outside of the injection cavity for accommodating the bolt head, with the recess being shaped to permit a specific orientation for the bolt. The shape of the bolt head and the recess define a repeatable orientation for the bolt and helical conductor. As a result, the point of injection relative to the helical winding may be exactly repeated time and time again. This allows selection of an injection point relative to the helical winding that produces minimal deformation, and the obtainment of consistent results thereby reducing variation and necessary manufacturing tolerances.

If the destination mobile station is operable in the voice mode, a circuit-switched communication on a traffic channel is established between the mobile radio network and the destination mobile station. Otherwise, the incoming voice call is routed to a voice gateway which converts the voice call to data packets and routes the data packets to the mobile station across an Internet Protocol communication network to a packet gateway of the mobile radio network.

The codewords are assigned to the quantising levels in accordance with the occurrence probability of the quantising levels and the number of bits having a first value in the codeword such that quantisation levels of higher occurrence probability are assigned codewords with fewer bits having a first value than those assigned to quantisation levels of lower occurrence probability. The coding includes generating the binary coded message such that the number of bits in the coded message is minimized.
