  • Patent number: 6145705
Abstract: A dry condiment dispensing system is provided, in which the contents of the dispenser are dispensed through one or more dispensing holes at the bottom of a storage container. A stationary shutter is placed over the dispensing holes to prevent undesired dispensing of the contents of the dispenser. When the storage container is moved in relation to the stationary shutter, the dispensing holes are aligned over a spout in the shutter, such that the stored contents may be dispensed through the dispensing holes and the spout. In a preferred embodiment, the storage container is moved along an axis between a closed position and a dispensing position by a cam. In another preferred embodiment, the storage container is spring loaded, such that the storage container returns to a normally closed position. One or more condiment dispensers can be used to organize such condiments as nutmeg, cinnamon, sugar, and cocoa powder at a coffee station, such as at a gourmet coffee shop.

  • Patent number: 6141833
Abstract: The invention relates to a plant for producing a non-woven, web-formed fiber product. The plant comprises a first forming wire with an inlet and outlet end and an upper part which, at the inlet end takes up a carded or air-laid layer of fiber and transports it to the outlet end. The plant also includes a roller with an upper and lower roller part for compressing the fiber layer, and a second wire, positioned above the first wire, with a lower part which extends across the roller, and a suction box which is placed above the roller. In the section (a) between the outlet end of the first forming wire and roller, the fiber layer is firmly sucked onto the under side of the lower part of the second wire via the suction box. The fiber layer is thus stabilized so that the plant can, at a considerably faster production speed than corresponding conventional systems, produce a non-woven, web-formed fiber product of high quality with an evenly distributed fiber density and uniform surface.

  • Patent number: 6143065
Abstract: A method of significantly improving the brightness and shade properties of a high quality PCC product. The method includes providing a calcium containing feed source that contains discoloring impurities. The calcium containing feed source is formed into an aqueous slurry of calcium carbonate. Thereafter, the slurry is fine screened through a 325 mesh screen in order to yield a slurry of filler grade calcium carbonate. The filler grade calcium carbonate slurry is wet milled in order to liberate the discoloring impurities and reduce the median particle size of the calcium carbonate to less than 2 microns. The discoloring impurities are then magnetically separated from the milled calcium carbonate slurry by subjecting the slurry to a high intensity magnetic filed. After the magnetic separation step, the purified slurry may be de-watered to yield a dry powder; or alternatively, the slurry may be retained in aqueous form.

  • Patent number: 6139439
Abstract: A mechanism for linearizing an open, vertically directed, high-speed air flow, generated by a propeller rotating about a vertical axis, includes a vertical cylindrical element mounted above and coaxially with the rotating propeller and a plurality of radially oriented vertically planar guide vanes supported at their radially outside ends in such a manner that ambient air can flow radially inward below and above the propeller. For large cross-section air-flows and improved elimination of swirl components from the flow, a second set of shorter radial guide vanes is provided in alternation with the vanes that are connected to the cylindrical element. A net structure is disposed above the guide vane structure for use of the invention in a system for producing a relatively large cross-section linearized flow to enable free-fall simulation exercises by one or more participants, to enable trainers to stand close to the free-falling participants.

  • Patent number: 6141549
Abstract: A method in a radio telecommunications network of automatically providing a roamer port number to a calling party when a called roaming mobile station (MS) is in the calling party's exchange. A Roamer Port Notification (RPN) subscriber class is set in the roaming MS's home location register (HLR), and is used to activate a RPN feature. When the RPN feature is activated, the roamer port number for the visited mobile switching center (MSC) is sent to the HLR in either a Feature Request (FEATREQ) Invoke message or a Registration Notification (REGNOT) Invoke message. Thereafter, when the calling party initiates a call directed to the roaming mobile station, it is determined whether the RPN service is activated for the roaming MS, and whether the roaming mobile station is in the calling party's exchange.

  • Patent number: 6140845
Abstract: A differential flip-flop having reduced circuit complexity, clock loading, and power consumption. The circuit is particularly well adapted for systems requiring high-speed differential flip-flops. The proposed flip-flop uses the parasitic capacitors associated with circuit nodes to dynamically store information. The differential flip-flop uses only one current source, as opposed to the two typically required by its conventional counterpart, saving fifty percent of the total power requirement. This power saving is a tremendous advantage at high frequencies, since current must be high to ensure high-speed operation of the transistors in the circuit. Furthermore, the new flip-flop presents a significantly reduced (fifty percent) load to the clock driver, thus further enhancing the power performance of the systems in which it is used.

  • Patent number: 6135387
Abstract: A method for the autonomous guidance of a spin-stabilized artillery projectile (2; 25) toward a target (12). To ensure that an autonomously guided, spin-stabilized artillery projectile (2; 25) hits a target (12) with high precision, even at distances of .gtoreq.35 km, previously determined target data are transmitted to the projectile (2; 25) and stored therein before it is fired, and, following the firing of the projectile (2; 25), these stored data are compared with projectile position data, detected with the aid of a satellite navigational receiving station (23). The correction data resulting from this comparison are then used for the projectile (2; 25) guidance.

  • Patent number: 6138006
Abstract: In a radio telecommunications network, a system and method of informing a called mobile station operating in a visited mobile switching center (V-MSC) that an incoming call is a collect call prior to delivering the incoming call to the mobile station. The system obtains in an originating mobile switching center (O-MSC), a collect call prefix from a calling party and determines from the collect call prefix that the incoming call is a collect call. A collect call indication (CCI) is generated and sent along with the calling number to the V-MSC in a Location Request (LocReq) Invoke message and a Routing Request (RoutReq) Invoke message, thereby notifying the V-MSC that there is an incoming call for the mobile station and the incoming call is a collect call. The V-MSC sets a collect call flag to ON, stores the calling number in a subscriber record in the V-MSC, and determines whether the mobile station is a digital mobile station.

  • Patent number: 6136408
Abstract: Oriented strand board is post-fabrication treated with a polymeric coating which includes isocyanate constituents to produce a construction material which is smooth, has high gloss, and which is resistant to water, vapor, and chemical penetration. The isocyanate constituents are most preferably MDI or PMDI, and may be present in a coating composition alone or in combination with other binder materials such as PEEG or other polyols. Prior to application of the coating composition, the surface of the oriented strand board is pretreated using heat and pressure to compress and densify wood at the surface, and to smooth out minor surface irregularities. The coating composition is then applied to the wood surface, and is cured to form a polymeric coating which bonds to the wood material.
