  • Publication number: 20160342820
Abstract: Systems and methods for use in detecting the presence of an RFID device are provided. One RFID detection system includes a detection circuit that includes an oscillating circuit. The detection circuit is configured to hold the RFID detection system in a low power mode in which the RFID detection system is configured to not actively attempt to communicate with nearby RFID devices. The detection circuit is further configured to monitor one or more parameters of a signal of the oscillating circuit and compare the one or more monitored parameters to one or more reference parameters. The detection circuit is further configured to, based on the comparison, determine whether to transition the RFID detection system from the low power mode into an active communication mode in which the RFID detection system is configured to actively attempt to communicate with nearby RFID devices.

  • Patent number: 9455839
Abstract: Disclosed are methods, systems, and computer-readable media for wireless key management for authentication. Authentication includes transmitting a request to a locking device, transmitting a security challenge to the mobile device, and transmitting a response to the challenge and an encrypted user profile for the locking device. The response includes data generated with an access key that is stored by both the mobile device and the locking device, and the user profile is encrypted by a server using a secret key that is stored by the server and the locking device. Authentication further includes verifying the response to the challenge, where the response is verified using the access key, and validating additional data from the mobile device. An action of the locking device may be initiated as specified by the request.

  • Publication number: 20160105406
Abstract: A method of securing communications between a security device and a security server include receiving, at the security server, a registration request from the security device, the registration request being encrypted using an initial registration key. A device identifier and rotation key unique to the security device are transmitted to the security device. A first session key request is received at the security server from the security device, the request being encrypted using the rotation key. A first session key is transmitted to the security device in response. One or more communications, encrypted using the first session key, is received at the security server from the security device. A second session key request is received at the security server from the security device after the first session key has expired, the request encrypted using the rotation key. A second session key is transmitted to the security device in response.

  • Publication number: 20160105847
Abstract: A method of communicating between a wireless security device and a security server through an access point includes estimating a link latency between a time of transmission of a message from the wireless security device and a time at which a response is received from the security server. A polling mode is enabled in which the access point will hold messages received by the access point that are directed to the wireless security device while the device is in a sleep state, without discarding the messages for a threshold period of time. The wireless security device may be placed in a sleep state and woken after a wake time determined based on the estimated link latency, and receives any messages received by the access point during the sleep state.
