  • Patent number: 4531305
Abstract: In a clothes dryer, the electrical resistance of wet articles and the temperature of exhaust air are monitored. At the instant the monitored electrical resistance reaches a predetermined value, the time-varying rate of change of the monitored temperature is detected, to estimate the period of time for which the dryer operation is to be continued. At the end of the estimated time period, the heat cycle of the dryer is shut down.

  • Patent number: 4527175
Abstract: In a nonimpact printer having a reciprocable printer head, ink is supplied to the head through a pair of identical, flexible conduits which are connected from first and second spaced apart outlets of an ink container. The container is not air tight with the outside so that it can act as a pressure absorber. Each of the first and second conduits have a sufficient length to allow the head to reciprocate along the length of a platen with end of each conduit moving therewith to cause pressure variations to occur in the conduits when the printer head varies its speed of movement. By virtue of the pressure absorbing action of the liquid container, the pressure variations are nullified and the printer head is supplied with constant pressure ink.

  • Patent number: 4525753
Abstract: In a magnetic recording/reproducing apparatus having a multi-track head for writing a digital signal on a magnetic recording medium, a plurality of head of the multi-track head is electrically divided into a plurality of groups which are respectively driven by writing currents produced in accordance with a plurality of modulated signals indicative of input digital data. The writing currents fed to the heads of the same group are produced in response to a pulse signal such that a plurality of pulse signals having different phases are used for respective groups. The head in the same group are positioned so that they are not adjacent to each other, and therefore, undesirable crosstalk can be reduced because heads corresponding to adjacent tracks are prevented from being driven simultaneously, while the entire writing current power can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 4499449
Abstract: A speed setting device for an industrial sewing machine comprises a lever pivotally mounted at one end thereof on a stationary wall and adapted to be pivotally moved in response to the foot pedal of the sewing machine. An arm is pivotally mounted at one end to the stationary wall and operatively engaged with the lever so that they rotate in unison about respective pivot points thereof. The pivot point of the second member is between the lever pivot point and the engagement point between the lever and arm. Thereby, the arm is rotated through an angle greater than the angle through which the lever is rotated in response to the angular displacement of the foot pedal. An angular displacement sensor detects the angular displacement of the arm to generate a speed setting signal.

  • Patent number: 4470144
Abstract: A coaxial-type carbon dioxide gas laser includes an oscillator comprising a gas inlet for introducing gas into a discharge tube through a gas supply chamber having a hollow cylindrical body which serves to disturb the gas flow and orientate the gas toward the discharge tube via a space defined between the discharge tube and the hollow cylindrical body. The gas which has been subjected to an electrical discharge is drawn out of the discharge tube through a chamber and a gas outlet connected therewith. A pair of anode and cathode electrodes are disposed adjacent to the ends of the discharge tube. One of the electrodes is mounted on the gas supply chamber and is annular in shape. The gas supply chamber and the hollow cylindrical body jointly define a gap for passage therethrough of the gas fed from the gas inlet toward the discharge tube via the space. The space is large in cross section than the gap.

  • Patent number: 4449108
Abstract: A band-stop filter for VHF-UHF band comprises at least three series resonance circuits and at least two transmission lines each connected between the series resonance circuits. One of the transmission lines, which is connected to the input terminal of the band-stop filter, has an electrical length which is shorter or longer than the quarter wavelength of the center frequency of the stop band by more than 20 but less than 50 percent. When a band-stop filter comprises four transmission lines, one of the transmission lines, which is connected to the output terminal of the band-stop filter, has the same length as the transmission line connected to the input terminal. With this arrangement, the band-stop filter exhibits a sharp attenuation characteristic in a frequency range below or above the center frequency.

  • Patent number: 4447691
Abstract: A plurality of magnetic field sensors are mounted adjacent the periphery of an induction heating coil of flat, spiral configuration which is energized by ultrasonic frequency energy to generate a time-varying magnetic field. The magnetic field sensors are connected in a ciruit to produce an output signal when a magnetic utensil load is placed asymmetrically with respect to the center of the induction heating coil. In response to sensor output exceeding a predetermined value a warning indication is provided. The ultrasonic energy level is reduced in response to the warning indication to minimize radio interference which would otherwise occur due to leakage magnetic flux.
