  • Patent number: 6558062
Abstract: An expandable outside pocket is provided on one panel of a binder. This pocket includes a releasable closure to control expansion of the pocket. In one configuration, the outside pocket includes a zippered gusset, where the zipper can be closed to prevent expansion of the pocket capacity. The gusset and zipper configuration enables the pocket to be expanded when it is desired to increase the size of the pocket in order to accommodate larger items such as books, but also enables the gusset to be held in a non-extendable position when the pocket does not need to be expanded, such as when the pocket is only used to carry papers or slim folders. A second zipper is preferably also provided in order to control access to the pocket. In another configuration, the outside pocket includes gussets along its sides which facilitate expansion of the pocket, and a single zipper provides access to the pocket interior when unzipped and also enables the pocket to expand when unzipped.

  • Patent number: 6527108
Abstract: An article carrier and blank for forming the article carrier are provided to package a plurality of necked articles. The carrier or blank comprises a top, bottom and opposed side panels interconnected together. The top panel comprises article receiving and retaining arrangement including an article retaining flap formed from the top panel. The article retaining flap is adapted to be folded inwardly of the top panel thereby to define an aperture for receiving a neck portion of the article. When the article neck portion is received in the aperture, the article retaining flap abuts the neck portion to engage and retain the article.

  • Patent number: 6453518
Abstract: An apparatus for holding sheet-like material, comprising an elongated frame. The frame includes a rear wall, a front wall, and an adjoining wall. The front and rear walls each have a free end, a joined end, and an interior side. The front and rear walls are disposed in opposing spaced relation such that their interior sides faces each other. The adjoining wall connects the joined ends of the rear and front walls together. The interior side of the rear wall includes a pair of spaced-apart projections at the free end of the rear wall. The interior side of the front wall has a curved portion at the free end of the front wall. The curved portion is in tight mating contact with the pair of projections. The free ends define an entry through which the sheet-like material is to be inserted. The entry is normally closed, and is openable by urging apart the front and rear walls. The rear, the front and the adjoining walls, together, define an elongated hollow that is configured to accommodate a wire binding.
