  • Patent number: 11202890
Abstract: A fluid pressurizing and displacement device which is configured for both macro movement and micro movement of a plunger. In order to execute micro movement of the plunger, a user need only rotate the plunger; to execute macro movement of the plunger, a user need only push or pull the plunger. This simplicity in use is possible because a half-nut (or other suitable structure within the device) remains engaged with the plunger, except when the plunger is being pushed or pulled by its operator. All user motions are simple and intuitive.

  • Patent number: 11185363
Abstract: A filter connection for a smoke evacuation device includes a filter canister assembly and a socket. The filter canister assembly has a cross-sectional shape with only one line of symmetry that corresponds to a cross-sectional shape of the socket so that the filter canister can only be inserted into the socket in one orientation. One or more key notches on the filter canister may also ensure that the filter is properly installed. A seal creates an airtight boundary between the filter canister and a recess of the socket so that a sealed path in communication with the smoke evacuation device is established before the filter canister is fully inserted into the socket. An electronic connection is made between the filter canister and the socket after the airtight boundary is created.

  • Patent number: 11173305
Abstract: In electrically stimulating neural tissue it is important to prevent over stimulation and unbalanced stimulation, which would cause damage to the neural tissue, the electrode, or both. It is critical that neural tissue is not subjected to any direct current or alternating current above a safe threshold. Further, it is important to identify defective electrodes, as continued use may result in neural damage and further electrode damage. The present invention presents system and stimulator control mechanisms to prevent damage to neural tissue.

  • Patent number: 11148856
Abstract: A method for providing a passivation layer or pH protective coating on a substrate surface by PECVD is provided, the method comprising generating a plasma from a gaseous reactant comprising polymerizing gases. The lubricity, passivation, pH protective, hydrophobicity, and/or barrier properties of the passivation layer or pH protective coating are set by setting the ratio of the O2 to the organosilicon precursor in the precursor feed, and/or by setting the electric power used for generating the plasma. In particular, a passivation layer or pH protective coating made by the method is provided. Pharmaceutical packages coated by the method and the use of such packages protecting composition contained in the vessel against mechanical and/or chemical effects of the surface of the package without a passivation layer or pH protective coating material are also provided.

  • Patent number: 11141577
Abstract: A universal fluid system connector creates an airtight seal between a variety of smoke evacuation system receptacles and various hoses. The universal connector includes a body, a seal having a plurality of radially extending flexible fins, and a swivel. A plurality of fins on the seal are disposed along the length of the body with the outer edges of the fins forming a frustoconical shape. The fins also include one or more flexion zones of various stiffness and one or more flexible fin extensions. The fins deform against the inner wall of a receptacle and form an airtight friction fit between the universal connector and the receptacle, regardless of the taper angle, size, threads, or other features of the receptacle. The swivel facilitates rotational movement between the universal fluid system connector and an associated hose.

  • Patent number: 11129690
Abstract: A hydrogel marker is placed under stress during its curing stage, in one embodiment, by application of an externally applied force. The stress may also be induced during or after the dehydration process. The direction of the externally applied force increases the length, width, depth, or radial extent of the marker. The elastic limit of the marker is exceeded when the external force is applied so that the marker substantially retains its stressed size and shape when the externally applied force is removed. When the stretched or otherwise deformed dehydrated marker is hydrated, it substantially returns to the configuration it had prior to its dehydration and prior to the application of the externally applied force.
