Abstract: A fitted sheet (800) includes a first side margin (106) and the second side margin (107) folded about a first fold line (104) and a second fold line (105), respectively, toward a central panel (108) such that sides of the first side margin and the second side margin are separated by a separation (208). A first edge (209) and a second edge (211) occur where the first side margin and the central panel abut, while a third edge (210) and a fourth edge (212) occur where the second side margin and the central panel abut. The first edge includes a first seam (405), while the second edge includes a second seam (406). The third edge includes a third seam (407), while the fourth edge includes a fourth seam (408). Each seam is applied by a different sewing operation. At least two seams are different in color.
Abstract: A drape for use in cranial surgical procedures including a sterile sheet and a plurality of fluid-collection pouches surrounding a cranial region fenestration. The drape further includes a thoracic region fenestration for concurrent or directly subsequent thoracic surgical procedures. Advantageously, the drape allows for a superior aseptic surgical field and superior drainage facilitated by a multi-pouch configuration.

Abstract: A decorative bandage (800) is provided. The decorative bandage can include a backing layer (100) defining a first major face (101) and a second major face (301). An adhesive (302) can be disposed along one of the first major face or the second major face. A pad (303) can be disposed along the adhesive layer. Another of the first major face or the second major face can include one or more design elements (601) defining a writing surface appearance (901), such as that of a blackboard or a whiteboard. A decorative bandage accessory (1300), such as one or more sticker sets 1301,1302, can be included so that a user can customize the decorative bandage.
Abstract: A wound dressing makes use of a saccharide, such as Manuka honey, in combination with collagen in order to suppress the efficacy of matrix metalloproteinases enzymes (“MMPs”) present in chronic wounds. The mixture is applied to an absorbent surface that is designed to absorb the mixed saccharide only partially.
Abstract: A container for disposal of medical waste is provided that comprises a receptacle with an open top. A lid is attached to the receptacle to cover the open top of the receptacle. The lid has an elongated opening sized to permit the introduction of medical waste into the receptacle. A closure flap is connected to the lid to selectively close the lid opening. The closure flap is movable between an open position, a closed position and a locked position. The closure flap is attached to the lid by axial hubs that extend from each side of the closure flap through openings in the side walls of the lid. Covers attached to the outside of the side wall of the lid and engaged with the closure flap axial hub. The container may also include a locking external cabinet that encloses the receptacle and can be mounted to a wall.

Abstract: A sliding arm mechanism for attaching to an arm of a wheelchair is provided herein. One concept of the present disclosure is directed to a sliding arm mechanism that includes a main portion having a top area, a bottom area, first and second opposing end areas, first and second opposing side areas and an inner cavity. The sliding arm mechanism also includes a slide rail, comprising a top side, a bottom side and an elongated aperture located between the top side and the bottom side, which is adapted to be housed within the inner cavity of the main portion. The bottom side of the slide rail is removably coupled to a top part of the arm of the wheelchair. The slide rail and the main portion are slidably coupled to allow the main portion to move laterally over the slide rail in a direction parallel to the top part of the arm of the wheelchair, thus allowing the main portion to move between a first position and a second position.

Abstract: A sleeve for a protective garment, such as a medical gown, includes a knit, woven, or non-woven layer and a seamless layer that are laminated together. The knit, woven, or non-woven layer can be a circularly knit seamless layer, or alternatively can have seams. The seamless layer can be water or vapor impermeable or resistant so as to prevent microorganisms, pathogens, liquids, or other substances from passing through the sleeve.
Abstract: A fitted bottom sheet (which may be comprised of low-friction material if desired) can include at least one tube-receiving hole formed therethrough. By one approach the corners of the fitted bottom sheet can include a strap to help retain the fitted bottom sheet on a mattress. By one approach the aforementioned tube-receiving hole can be formed at each corner of the fitted bottom sheet. A strapless repositioning sheet can have a low-friction mattress-facing side in combination with webbing disposed along and attached to at least two side edges of the strapless repositioning sheet to thereby form a plurality of handhold openings and a plurality of strap-connection openings.
Abstract: A rolling walker comprises a frame, a seat supported by that frame, and a backrest supported by the frame. By one approach the backrest is configured to selectively move between a first position that provides back support for a person sitting in the seat facing in a forward direction and a second position that provides back support for a person sitting in the seat facing in a rearward direction. If desired, this backrest can be comprised of a material (such as a memory foam material) that biases the backrest towards that first position when the backrest is in the first position and that biases the backrest towards the second position when the backrest is in the second position.
Abstract: A liquid excipient is added to a lock solution formulation containing a lower alcohol and an anti-coagulant, antibiotic, and/or anti-microbial, such as the ethanol and tri-sodium citrate lock solution formulation, to prevent citrate from crystallizing in catheters made from silicone. The locking solution could include a liquid excipient, such as glycerol, polysorbate-20, or polyethylene glycol (PEG)-400, along with a lower alcohol, such as ethanol, and an anti-coagulant, such as tri-sodium citrate, antibiotic, and/or anti-microbial.
Abstract: A heel protector (100) includes a leg engaging section (101) and a foot engaging section (102) intersecting at a heel receiver (103). The leg engaging section (101) and the foot engaging section (102) define a leg insertion aperture (104). The leg engaging section (101) defines at least one aperture (203) disposed in an ankle region (205) to permit a connection tube (1002) extending from an inflatable bladder (901) of a compression device (800) to pass therethrough. The heel protector (100) and compression device (800) work together as a rehabilitation system (1300).
