Abstract: A device for positioning a cutting torch aggregate includes a movable sled for carrying the torch. The sled is connected by means of a spindle to an adjustable drive which is activated by its engagement with a nut which mounts the sled to the spindle. The nut activates a control for the drive.
Abstract: Fins or ridges are removed from molded workpieces by insertion into a rotating drum where they are subjected to the action of free hanging chains each mounted at one of its ends to the inner wall of the drum. Each chain has a length no greater than the inside diameter of the drum.
Abstract: Organs or parts of organs are conserved by being rinsed with an inert gas or mixture until they are free of water and blood. Their vascular systems are filled at slight excess pressure of an inert gas or gas mixture, and finally the organs or parts are cooled at excess pressure in an inert gas atmosphere to a temperature below -100.degree. C and are stored at this temperature.
Abstract: A process for preparing fine-grained slush of low-boiling gases is characterized in that the liquefied gas or the very cold gas under high pressure is relieved from stress in a nozzle alternately first to a pressure below the pressure of the triple point in the gas-ice range and subsequently to a pressure above the pressure of the triple point in gas-liquid range.

Abstract: A flame-cutting machine having a moving torch carriage includes a scrap-cutting arrangement which is mounted directly on the torch unit and is activated in accordance with the movement of the flame-cutting machine.
Abstract: A process for cooling by means of a low-boiling gas comprises the steps of continuously producing a gas slush and conveying it from the location of its production to the place of consumption. The gas slush releases its heat of fusion at the place of consumption and becomes a triple-point liquid. The liquid is returned to the location of production to produce fresh slush.
Abstract: A device for cooling bulk material by low-boiling liquefied gas includes a precooling zone and a spraying zone. The precooling zone is inclined from the horizontal downwardly toward its discharge end to which is attached a rotatable drum-shaped chamber as its spraying and draining zone which is constructed as a worm conveyor. Where used for scrap tires, a spray pipe is provided at the discharge end with a ring mounted on the internal wall between the spray orifices and the discharge opening, the ring having a thickness corresponding to the average tire thickness.
Abstract: A protective gas for annealing steel and other metals is characterized by a mixture of nitrogen and 0.2% by volume to 50% by volume of carbon monoxide.
Abstract: Process for filling multilayer pressure containers with cold liquids below -10.degree.C. comprises steps of cooling container from outside thereof inwardly to temperature that approximately corresponds to temperature of liquid to be filled. After such cooling the cold liquid is filled into the container. Multilayer pressure container has plurality of individual shells adjacent one another and cooling chamber surrounds shells.

Abstract: A method for cutting out work pieces which have similar contours on both sides of an axis of symmetry thereof comprising the steps of scanning the contour of the work piece for developing control signals corresponding to the shape of the work piece, delivering the control signals for driving a plurality of cutting torches placed on a carrier, displacing the carrier in the direction of the axis of symmetry of the work piece representing the y direction of coordinates, and displaying the cutting devices transversely to the axis of symmetry of the work piece representing the x direction of coordinates, said cutting devices being displaced on equal distance along the x direction but opposite in sense, whereby a pattern having a mirror image on both sides of the axis of symmetry can be cut simultaneously by the cutting torches.
Abstract: Retarding markings are provided alongside a linear pattern to be cut out by an automatic device guided by a photoelectric scanner. The markings are disposed a short distance ahead of the changes in direction of the pattern line, which is greater than the resultant decelerating path of the advance motors from the original faster advance speed to the resultant slower advance speed. A timing circuit initiates the change in advance speed after the retarding mark is detected and a second timing circuit changes the overhang of the line-scanning photocells from an initial greater magnitude to the lesser required magnitude correspond to the slower advance speed. Acceleration marks may also be provided after directional changes in the pattern to accelerate the advance speed back to the original advance speed after the changes in directions are accomplished.

Abstract: A cutting machine for separating workpieces includes a cutting unit which is mounted above a workpiece to traverse the width of the workpiece and cut therethrough. The mounting means includes rails disposed over and across the workpiece over which the cutting unit travels and a workpiece clamping mechanism for securing the cutting unit to a fixed position along the length of the workpiece. The clamping mechanism includes a pair of opposed levers for movement into and out of engaging contact with the workpiece. In accordance with the invention adjustable stop means are provided to limit the movement of the clamping levers away from the workpiece so as to minimize the movement later required for re-engagement with the workpiece.
Abstract: A process for flame scarfing places of errors or surface defects on a work piece such as ingots, slabs or the like, by means of at least one flame-scarfing torch is characterized by raising and/or accelerating the flame-scarfing torch from its flame-scarfing position prior to the end of the place of error without changing the other flame scarfing parameters.
