  • Patent number: 4515645
Abstract: Metallic work pieces are annealed under protective gas in bright annealing furnaces with subsequent cooling line. Exogas or nitrogen is used as protective gas. In the latter case, liquid nitrogen is evaporated and introduced at several locations in the bright annealing furnace and the cooling line. For the purpose of decreasing the installation costs, increasing the performance and improving the quality, the liquid nitrogen is sprayed without prior evaporation onto the material to be annealed, namely in the end zone of the cooling line.

  • Patent number: 4510760
Abstract: A compact integrated gas phase separator and subcooler for removing gas phases from a liquid gas and subcooling the liquid gas comprises a subcooler with a subcooler container having a subcooled bath of liquid gas, a gas phase separator having a container submerged in the subcooler bath, a tube for delivering liquid gas from a supply line into the gas phase separator, a coil extending from the gas phase separator for delivering the liquid through the subcooler bath to subcool the liquid and deliver it to an outlet tube to the supply lines. A takeoff tube and float valve delivers gas and liquid from the separator to the subcooler, and the heat from the coil vaporizes some of the liquid in the subcooler to reduce the level of the bath and to operate the float valve to deliver the gas from the separator to the subcooler and to replenish the level of the liquid in the subcooler by delivering liquid to it from the separator.

  • Patent number: 4507699
Abstract: A system to prevent a dangerous contact voltage in a welding apparatus by providing a protective device for cutting off the power for welding. The welding system has a power source including a primary circuit and a secondary circuit. An electrode receiving the power welds workpieces which are successively inserted and removed into electrical contact in the welding system. A protective ground is provided between the housing for the power source and ground. To prevent dangerous grounding during the welding operation, there is connected between the workpiece lead in the secondary and the housing a device which monitors both the current to the protective wire ground and the voltage between the workpiece lead and the housing. This monitor device controls a power cut-off switch. The current is monitored through a current sensor which is connected to the monitor device and the current sensor is also connected in series between the housing and the protective ground.
