Patent number: 12225349Abstract: Embodiments relate to systems and methods for compensating nonlinear distortions. The system receives a signal corresponding to an input sound pressure which is detected by a capacitive MEMS microphone. The capacitive MEMS microphone includes an active capacitance and a parasitic capacitance. The system determines a nonlinear relationship between the signal and the input sound pressure; and determines, based on the signal, an input parameter associated with the active capacitance and the parasitic capacitance. The system further determines an output signal based on the input parameter and the output signal and the input sound pressure have a linear relationship. The system compensates the signal based on the determined output signal and outputs the compensated signal as an output so that the output has the linear relationship with the input sound pressure.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 2022Date of Patent: February 11, 2025Assignee: Meta Platforms Technologies, LLCInventor: Limin Zhou

Patent number: 12218944Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to group travel between artificial reality (XR) destinations. Currently, users in an artificial reality (XR) experience cannot travel with a group to a specific destination or between destinations (e.g., to and from virtual worlds, levels, applications, etc.). Thus, some implementations assign users within a group in a multiplayer XR experience (e.g., a virtual lobby) a same session identifier. When the users select a destination, some implementations can provide a computing system hosting the destination with the session identifier associated with the users, such that the hosting computing system can ensure that the users travel to the same instance of the destination together. If a user does not already have the destination installed, some implementations can allow the user to acquire access rights to the destination, then travel to the same instance of the destination as the other users.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2022Date of Patent: February 4, 2025Assignee: Meta Platform Technologies, LLCInventors: Michael Hadley, Danyang Zhao, Patrick McGartoll, Nicolas Sleiman Machado

Patent number: 12217347Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to creating interactive avatars that can be pinned as world-locked artificial reality content. Once pinned, an avatar can interact with the environment according to contextual queues and rules, without active control by the avatar owner. An interactive avatar system can configure the avatar with action rules, visual elements, and settings based on user selections. Once an avatar is configured and pinned to a location by an avatar owner, when other XR devices are at that location, a central system can provide the avatar (with its configurations) to the other XR device. This allows a user of that other XR device to discover and interact with the avatar according to the configurations established by the avatar owner.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 2023Date of Patent: February 4, 2025Assignee: Meta Platforms Technologies, LLCInventors: Campbell Orme, Matthew Adam Hanson, Daphne Liang, Matthew Roberts, Fangwei Lee, Bryant Jun-Yao Tang

Patent number: 12212705Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to controlling a sending side of an augmented call based on a receiving user's gaze. Some implementations provide a hologram moderation system in which a receiving user's gaze can control how the system generates a representation of a sending user on a sending side. For example, some implementations can moderate the capture or generation of hologram data representing the sending user when the receiving user isn't focused on the hologram that results from the data. Such moderations can reduce power consumption, bandwidth, heat production, and/or processing power needed by the artificial reality system when the receiving user is not looking at the hologram of the sending user, such as when the sending user is in the receiving user's periphery or outside the receiving user's field-of-view.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 2022Date of Patent: January 28, 2025Assignee: Meta Platforms Technologies, LLCInventors: Jing Ma, Paul Armistead Hoover, Joshuah Vincent
