  • Patent number: 12324273
Abstract: LED devices and corresponding techniques for manufacturing LED devices are described. In some embodiments, an LED device includes a plurality of mesas, each mesa corresponding to a separate LED and including a layered semiconductor structure. The layered semiconductor structure includes an active region and a quantum barrier (QB) layer. The active region has a matrix of quantum well (QW) cells that are quantum mechanically isolated by the QB layer. In particular, the QB layer can include ridge-shaped structures that laterally separate adjacent QW cells. The matrix of QW cells can be arranged as a two-dimensional array. In some embodiments, the QW cells are epitaxially grown such that each QW cell is thicker along a central region and thinner along a peripheral region, with the peripheral region corresponding to where the QW cell meets a ridge-shaped structure of the QB layer.

  • Patent number: 12321468
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to obscuring objects in data streams using machine learning. A data stream captured at a client device associated with a principal user (e.g., video stream, artificial reality session, and the like) can be processed to recognize objects in the stream. Based on user preferences that define object sharing rules, one or more of the recognized objects can be obscured from the data stream. For example, when the principal user's data stream is displayed to the participant users, such as during a video conference, objects in the principal user's data stream can be obscured according to the object sharing rules. Different groups of object sharing rules (e.g., profiles) can be used for different participant users or session types. Machine learning can be used to learn trends and predict a profile for use with a current or future shared streaming data session.

  • Publication number: 20250175710
Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses to reduce stray light in eye/face tracking systems of near-eye devices are presented. In one aspect, an IR filter may minimize stray light when suitably disposed in-frame, in-lens (as, e.g., a localized in-lens IR filter), and/or coupled to a waveguide. In another aspect, configurations of linearly-polarized IR light sources and polarization-sensitive IR light sensors may be effective for stray light reduction in eye/face tracking systems. In yet another aspect, polarization-sensitive pre-processing methods and/or stray light reduction methods may be beneficial for eye/face tracking systems in near-eye devices.

  • Patent number: 12310887
Abstract: Techniques are described for generating and using an illumination pattern for corneal topography. In some examples, the illumination pattern is projected over a sequence of frames, including a first frame with a first pattern of dots arranged along a two-dimensional grid, and a second frame with a second pattern of dots arranged along the two-dimensional grid. The first pattern differs from the second pattern with respect to a wavelength of light used to project one or more dots, a position of one or more dots, or both. After the illumination pattern has been determined, it can be projected over the sequence of frames and onto an eye of a user. Reflections of the illumination pattern as projected over the sequence of frames can then be used to calculate an eye model characterizing a topography of a cornea of the eye of the user.

  • Patent number: 12315085
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for facilitating an interactive artificial-reality activity. A method includes, after a user of a head-wearable device has opted-in to using an artificial-reality application to facilitate connecting with other participating users, determining, based on user-specific suggestion criteria, that a suggested user is located in an approved common space with the user and has opted-in to use the artificial-reality application. The method includes causing the head-wearable device to present an user interface (UI) element for linking the suggested user and the user. Upon the user selecting the UI element for linking the suggested user with the user, the method includes automatically causing the head-wearable device to provide visual-guidance UI elements to navigate the user to an interactive-activity location where the user and the suggested user will perform an artificial-reality activity while also displaying information about the artificial-reality activity to be performed.
