  • Patent number: 5635976
Abstract: A system for writing geometric structures on a photosensitive substrate including a modulated laser beam source, a focusing lens, a deflector for producing a scanning action between the light source and the lens, and a device for mechanically moving the surface relative to the laser beam. Compressed data for use in writing the geometric structures is read out of a memory into a data delivery circuit such that the data is formatted to have both beam power and position information. A modulator logic circuit operates to call up the data from the data delivery circuit, form a modulation drive signal based on the power information, and delay the modulation drive signal based the position data. The modulator logic circuit thus operates to vary the modulation drive signal to begin or end exposure along the scan lines with greater resolution or pixel density by at least a factor of four more than the resolution or spacing density between adjacent scan lines.

  • Patent number: 5586865
Abstract: Computer apparatus 10 has enhanced convective flow 10F of circulating cooling air provided by improved fan 12. Fan support 12S is secured to the computer apparatus proximate fan port 10P formed in the housing. Fan blade 22B is rotatably mounted within fan support 22S. The propelling action of the fan blade defines a transition path for the cooling air through the fan. Stationary screen 24S is positioned adjacent to the blade traversing the transition path. Transition chamber 26 formed between the screen and the blade also traverses the transition path. The width of the transition chamber defines a transition gap dimension from the screen and to the blade that is optimally selected to enhance the cooling air flow. The transition chamber has a screen region 26S adjacent the screen and a blade region 26B adjacent the blade, and a middle region 26M between the screen region and the blade region. Cooling air flow through the screen and the screen region is generally linear.

  • Patent number: 5581623
Abstract: The present invention provides an electroacoustic transducer and a method of fabricating the same, employing a lead frame to integrally form a plurality of component parts, thus reducing the number of individual component parts, and improving assembly efficiency. The electroacoustic transducer comprises a base, a yoke fixed to the base, a core, a coil wound around the core, magnet surrounding the coil, a support ring surrounding the magnet, a vibrating plate supported on the support ring, lead terminals fixed to the base, and a case having a sound emitting cylinder and joined to the base so as to cover those components. A gap is formed between the core and the diaphragm. The diaphragm, the gap, the core, the yoke and the magnet form a closed magnetic path. The coil drives the diaphragm for vibration when energized. The yoke and the lead terminals are integrally formed of a common metal material such as the lead frame. The core may be integrally formed with the yoke of the lead frame.

  • Patent number: 5564171
Abstract: An automatic lathe includes a pair of gang tool posts disposed on opposite sides of a headstock. The headstock has a main spindle and is movable axially of the main spindle, and the pair of gang tool posts are independently movable in respective two directions perpendicular to each other and perpendicular to the axial direction. Pitches between work tools on one of the gang tool posts differ from pitches between work tools on the other gang tool post such that when a free-end position of an arbitrary work tool of a first gang tool post is aligned with that of an arbitrary work tool of a second gang tool post, free-end positions of the other work tools of the first gang tool post mutually differ from those of the other work tools of the second gang tool post.

  • Patent number: 5495279
Abstract: A method for exposure of patterns described in one or several databases containing geometrical descriptions of said patterns by means of writing with a focussed laser light onto substrates which are photosensitive at the wavelength of the laser light, comprising the steps ofmoving the substrate during the writing procedure in a first direction (y) relative to a fixed frame, continuously moving the optics focussing laser light on said photosensitive surface in a second direction (x) essentially perpendicular to the first direction, spreading the focussed laser light on the photosensitive surface in the first direction (y) for forming an extended focus area, andindependently controlling the focussed laser light hitting more than 100 position increments spaced in the first direction (y) across the extended focus area.

  • Patent number: 5495559
Abstract: Disclosed is a printer which will carry out initialization or rewriting of data in a non-volatile memory in response to a control command sent from a host machine, and execute printer initialization, based on the initialized or rewritten data, by a control command sent from the host machine. Unlike the prior arts, therefore, it is possible to perform initialization of the printer based on the initialized or rewritten data, without involving a troublesome switching operation and without requiring an operation of powering off and then on the printer or resetting the host machine. A printer according to another aspect of this invention is designed to print out data in the non-volatile memory in response to a control command sent from the host machine. It is therefore possible to print out the contents of the non-volatile memory for confirmation without involving a troublesome switching operation in this case too.

  • Patent number: 5485244
Abstract: To attach or detach a process cartridge to or from a support member of an LED printer, an upper housing is angularly displaced and opened around a supporting position relative to a lower housing. As the upper housing is gradually opening relatively to the lower housing, the support member is angularly displaced around a connection position with the lower housing to be separated from the upper housing. Then, a used process cartridge can be detached from the support member and another new process cartridge can be attached thereto, thereby allowing such maintenance operation to be easily performed.

  • Patent number: 5478161
Abstract: The present invention relates to a paper discharge apparatus provided together with a printer for discharging printed matter such as a receipt or a ticket. The paper discharge apparatus stores paper then feeds it during printing, and discharges the paper upon completion of printing. It is possible to perform stable printing and discharge operations because a recipient does not touch the paper during printing. The paper discharge apparatus stops the discharge of the paper when an obstruction occurs, and it quickly restarts the discharge when the obstruction is removed.
