  • Patent number: 5786654
Abstract: A movable stage utilizing an electromechanical transducer. An actuator as a drive source thereof is composed of piezoelectric elements, drive member fixed thereto and a movable member friction-coupled with the drive member. When a drive pulse is applied to the piezoelectric element to cause it to show reciprocal displacements at different rates in the thickness direction, the movable member frictionally coupled with the drive member moves in the predetermined direction to move the movable table coupled with the movable member in the predetermined direction. The movable stage comprising the movable table moving in the two axes or three axes can be constituted by providing the actuator in the two axes or three axes crossing with each other.

  • Patent number: 5787327
Abstract: This invention relates to the charging member portion of an image forming apparatus. A plurality of charging members are disclosed that maintain a uniform spacing between a charge-receiving member and the discharging portion of the charging members' electrodes despite surface irregularities and surface waviness on the charge-receiving member. One charging member is in the form of a flexible sheet provided with ventilation holes in a non-contacting portion thereof, permitting the air produced by the rotation of the charge-receiving member to escape through the holes to suppress the lifting of the charging member. Pressure fins can be added to the charging member on the downstream of the ventilation holes for further suppressing any lifting. Another charging member includes a semiconductive member or a electret member on at least the surface of the charging member on the side opposite the charge-receiving member. This permits the charging member to be electrostatically attracted to the charge-receiving member.

  • Patent number: 5784664
Abstract: A copier supervisory control system in which a plurality of copiers are connected to each other over a network is provided. Each of the plurality of copiers has a structure that compares a user identifier inputted by a user with a registered identifier. If the user identifier and the registered identifier are identical, the user is permitted to make copies by the copier. If the two compared identifiers are not identical, the user is prohibited from making copies. More specifically, a first copier receives a user identifier and compares it with its registered identifier. If the user identifier and the registered identifier of the first copier are not identical, the copier inquires of a second copier whether it has a registered identifier identical to the user identifier over the network. Upon receipt of the inquiry, the second copier compares the user identifier with its own identifier, and if the two identifiers are identical, it informs the first copier of the result over the network.

  • Patent number: 5778265
Abstract: Malfunction is prevented in a camera which allows setting of print number at the time of photographing. In the camera, whether the film is a reversal film or not is determined. When the loaded film is a negative film, a print number is initially set to 1. If the loaded film is a reversal film, the print number is initially set to 0. However, when a select switch is ON, the set number is 1, similar to the case of a negative film. The setting is for a counter CPRT storing the print number data.
