Abstract: A method of treating a combustion exhaust gas containing nitrogen oxides comprises:A first step of removing nitrogen oxides by treating a mixture of the exhaust gas, oxygen and ammonia in the absence of hydrogen or in the presence of lower than 10 mole ratio of hydrogen to ammonia at a temperature from 700.degree. C to 1300.degree. C andA second step of adjusting a mole ratio of hydrogen to ammonia in the pretreated exhaust gas to higher than 3 and treating the mixed gas at a temperature from 490.degree. C to 700.degree. C.
Abstract: A process for producing tetrahydrofuran or dihydrofuran from an acetic ester of 1,4-butanediol or 1,4-dihydroxybutene-2 is disclosed in which the raw material liquid acetic ester and steam are reacted in the presence of an acid catalyst in a plurality of reaction zones in liquid-gas countercurrent contact, a gaseous fraction containing the product cyclic ether is recycled to the preceding reaction zone while a liquid fraction containing unreacted raw material is transferred into the succeeding zone and the product cyclic ether is recovered from the gaseous fraction discharged from the first zone by distillation whereby the conversion of the acetic ester into the cyclic ether is improved.
Abstract: The invention relates to an improved process for removing water, under elevated temperature, from aqueous gel of water soluble polymer, such as polymer or copolymer of acrylamide and/or quaternary ammonium salts of dialkylaminoamlkylmethacrylate, to prevent from the deterioration of polymer properties. The process is accomplished by addition of polyhydric phenols, benzoquinones or derivatives thereof prior to removal of water.

Abstract: Yttrium ions are selectively extracted by contacting an acid phosphoric ester with an aqueous solution containing diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid and yttrium ions and one or more heavy rare earth (atomic number of 64 to 71) ions.
Abstract: Carbon black and liquid rubber are blended to form a dispersion by mixing 60 to 150 parts by weight of the carbon black with 100 parts by weight of the liquid rubber to form an initial dispersion of the carbon black in the liquid rubber and diluting the dispersion with additional liquid rubber to prepare a composition having the required carbon black content.
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for preparing tetrahydrofuran or dihydrofuran by reacting an acetic acid ester of 1,4-butanediol or 1,4-dihydroxybutene-2 and water in the presence of an acid catalyst with a high yield. The process is characterized in that the reaction is carried out in two separate reaction zone in combination with a plurality of distilling columns and a part of reaction product is recycled to a predetermined position of the reaction zone.
Abstract: A process for preparing a carbon product which comprises mixing a carbon material, bitumen and a liquid medium to form a slurry, removing the liquid medium of said slurry along with at least a portion of the low molecular weight components of the bitumen to form a solid material, molding the separated solid material and then heat-treating the molded material.
