  • Patent number: 4730717
Abstract: A curved escalator comprising a plurality of segment steps having step axles connected to an inner and an outer endless loop of step chains so that the steps circulate along the endless loops, and inner and outer sprocket wheels having different diameters for turning around the step axles along a conical surface in turn-around portions of the loop in engagement with the inner and outer endless chain loops, the bottom surfaces of the teeth being engageable with the step axles of the inner and outer sprocket wheels having sloped surfaces that are parallel to the axis of the step axles in the turn-around portion, and the teeth having the same pitch circle. Since the bottom surfaces of the teeth engaging the step axles have sloped surfaces that are parallel to the axis of the step axles in the turn-around portion, and since the pitch circles of the teeth are the same, the driving force is transmitted to the step axles and the step chain, and the steps are smoothly turned around to provide a better ride.

  • Patent number: 4731552
Abstract: A boost signal generating circuit providing a higher boosted voltage in a shortened time period but with minimum power consumption. The boost signal generating circuit includes a boosting circuit including first and second MOS transistors, a capacitor and a charging device, a dynamic inverter circuit including third and fourth MOS transistors, a boost potential generator circuit, and a fifth MOS transistor having a source serving as a boost signal source. The fifth MOS transistor is turned on by a charging current supplied by the charging device to thus raise its source potential, while simultaneously the dynamic inverter circuit is actuated to actuate a boostrap circuit, thereby to raise its output voltage and hence reduce the on resistance of the fifth MOS transistor, resulting in a boosted signal at a potential near the output voltage of the boost potential generator circuit.

  • Patent number: 4731514
Abstract: In a wire electrode discharge machining method the breaking of the wire electrode is positively detected by detecting a discharge signal between the wire electrode and the workpiece over a predetermined unit period of time, and then monitoring the average value of high frequency components included in the spectrum of the discharge signal which are independent of the vibration of the wire electrode. When the average value of the high frequency components is found to exceed a predetermined level, countermeasures are taken to avoid the breaking of the wire electrode.

  • Patent number: 4730515
Abstract: A drive apparatus for engine auxiliary equipment comprises a drive pulley mounted on the crank shaft of an engine. The rotation of the axle of the drive pulley by the crank shaft is transmitted to the grooved body of the drive pulley by a planetary cone-type reduction gear. An output ring of the reduction gear can be moved along the surface of the planetary cones of the reduction gear by an hydraulic ram to change the reduction ratio. A pump driven by the rotation of the drive pulley pumps transmission oil sealed within the housing of the pulley to drive the hydraulic ram. The oil pressure applied to the ram is determined by the opening and closing of a solenoid valve, which is controlled by a controller in accordance with the operating conditions of the engine and the auxiliary equipment driven by the drive pulley. The reduction gear, the pump, the hydraulic ram, and the solenoid valve are housed within the drive pulley which is the same size as a conventional drive pulley.

  • Patent number: 4729969
Abstract: According to the present invention, a method for forming a metal silicide electrode in contact with a doped region of a silicon substrate through a contact hole which is opened through an insulator film over said substrate, comprises the steps of: covering not only the contact hole area but also the insulator film with a metal film; injecting silicon ions into a predetermined area of the metal film covering the insulator portion adjacent the contact hole area; forming a continuous metal siliside film by annealing only on both the hole area and the ion-injected area; removing the metal film to leave the metal silicide film as an electrode which extends laterally to cover the hole area and the adjacent insulator portion. According to another aspect of the present invention, silicon ions are implanted into the area of the indulating film adjacent the contact hole area prior to a conformal deposition of metal. An annealing hep is carried out to form silicide.
