  • Patent number: 6152352
Abstract: The invention comprises a continuous hot rolling method in which a rear end portion of a preceding metal block and a fore end portion of a succeeding metal block are cut and the metal blocks are joined to each other by heng and pressing followed by a finish rolling. A region of each metal block is restrained from a clamping position to the end portion thereof in order to prevent a change in level of the metal blocks in heating and pressing the piece. The end portions of the metal blocks can be thus prevented from deformation.

  • Patent number: 6137529
Abstract: An apparatus for recognizing a position, a diameter and a width of a cylindrical object such as a coil made of thin steel plate being wound while observed by a TV camera in unmanned manner. The coil is irradiated with laser light while the laser light is moved in the direction perpendicular to an axial direction of the coil. An image data by the laser light is obtained from a difference of image data in the case where the coil is irradiated with the laser light and in the case where the coil is not irradiated with the laser light. The image data is analyzed to obtain data such as the position and the like. In order to improve an S/N ratio of the image data, the difference signal is binarized and then integrated for a frame. Influence of the background light can be minimized and a memory capacity for the image data can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 6086296
Abstract: A surface cutting apparatus for hot-rolled products cuts top and bottom surfaces of a hot-rolled steel product continuously or intermittently by passing the steel product between a pair of rotary drums (milling cutters) that rotate in a direction reverse to each other. The apparatus includes a disk having a larger diameter than that of the rotary drums at one or both ends of at least one of the rotary drums. The disk recognizes a gap between the rotary drums, allowing a zero adjustment to be made without excessively pressing the rotary drums. The measurement can be by a non-contact distance meter, eddy-current type sensor or other sensor.

  • Patent number: 6081608
Abstract: A printing quality examining method in which image data printing paper is successively taken in by a camera of a detection unit. The image data are compared with a previously taken-in reference data to detect a printing defect so that a decision as to whether printing quality is good or bad is made. The image data is averaged in time to calculate an estimated data, and the estimated data is compared with the previously taken-in reference data. When the estimated data is normal, pixels are determined to be normal. When the estimated data is unusual, the image data from the detection unit is compared with the reference data at next step so that when the image data from the detection is normal, the pixels are determined to be normal and when the image data is unusual, the pixels are determined to be defective and the paper is discharged.

  • Patent number: 6062837
Abstract: In a central mechanism for a tire vulcanizer in accordance with the present invention, after a tire has been vulcanized (a bladder is expanded), a clamp rod is elevated to elevate a lower ring and separate it from a housing. After that, the clamp rod is turned so that a claw of a claw mechanism between the lower ring and the clamp rod can pass through. Then, a pin fixing a post to an upper ring is pulled out, and a bladder assembly is hung and carried out of the vulcanizer to replace the bladder and O-rings. After the bladder and other parts have been replaced, the bladder assembly is hung and mounted to the vulcanizer so that the hole for the claw mechanism of the lower ring is aligned with the upper end of the clamp rod. At this time, when the claw of the claw mechanism passes through, the lower ring is supported by the elevated clamp rod, and the lower ring and a supply/discharge opening of the housing is aligned with each other.

A pulverized fuel rich/lean separator is disposed at the axial center of the conduit so that a high concentration mixture is formed at an outer peripheral portion of the conduit and a low concentration mixture is formed at a central portion of the conduit. The pulverized fuel rich/lean separator has a cross-sectional shape which gradually enlarges in the flow direction at an angle to the flow direction. It becomes parallel to the flow direction downstream of the enlarging portion, and terminates in a flat surface that is perpendicular to the axis of the separator. A passage extends through the pulverized fuel rich/lean separator along the axis.
