    Abstract: A synthetic resin shaped article having good antistatic properties, composed of a substrate, at least part of which is covered with a synthetic resin surface layer integrated with the substrate. This shaped article is prepared by polymerizing 100 wt. parts of a mixture comprising (A) more than 20 wt. % of a monomer of the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is H or CH.sub.3, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are H or C.sub.1-9 alkyl, m is from 1 to 10, and X.sup.- is an anion, (B) less than 79.99 wt. % of a monomer having one unsaturated double bond and (C) 0.01-10 wt. % of a monomer having at least two unsaturated double bonds; subsequently adding (D) up to 190 wt. parts of a monomer having one unsaturated double bond and (E) up to 10 wt.

    Abstract: A methacrylic resin cast plate having an excellent antistatic property comprises (A) 100 weight parts of a polymer comprising 50 to 100 weight % of methyl methacrylate units and 0 to 50 weight % of copolymerizable monomer units and (B) 0.1 to 20 weight parts of a polymer comprising 20 to 100 weight % of units derived from a monomer having a quaternary ammonium base, which is represented by the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is H or CH.sub.3, R.sub.2 through R.sub.4 are H or (Cl-9)alkyl which may have a substituent, m is from 1 to 10 and X.sup.- is an anion of a quaternizing agent,and 0 to 80 weight % of copolymerizable monomer units. The cast plate is obtained by polymerizing methyl methacrylate, a monomer mixture comprising at least 50 weight % of methyl methacrylate and up to 50 weight % of a copolymerizable monomer or a partial polymerization product thereof in the presence of the polymer (B).

    Abstract: An optical fiber photoconductor, comprising at least two multi-filament plastic optical fiber units arranged in parallel and having a substantially rectangular peripheral shape and at least one end fixed in a cap, each optical fiber unit having 50 to 10000 core-sheath light-transmitting islands having a diameter of 5 to 200.mu., which are densely arranged in a sea portion, wherein in each of the multi-filament plastic optical fiber units having a rectangular sectional shape, the end face fixed in the cap is expanded so that the length of one side of the end face is at least 1.01 times the original length of one side of the rectangular peripheral shape of the multi-filament plastic optical fiber unit, whereby a bonding interface between the multi-filament plastic optical fiber units substantially disappears.

    Abstract: A methacrylimide containing polymer which is a thermoplastic polymer comprising from 2% to 100% by weight of a structural unit represented by the general formula: ##STR1## where R represents a hydrogen atom or an aliphatic group, aromatic group or cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon group with 1 to 20 carbon atoms and from 0 to 98% by weight of a structural unit derived from as ethylenic monomer, the polymer having(a) a molecular weight (Mw) of greater than 50,000 and less than 200,000 as measured by GPC, and(b) an amount of amide segments in the polymer of less than 5% by weight. The methacrylimide containing polymer has excellent transparency and heat resistance, as well as a low yellowness and aging coloration under heating.

    Abstract: A process for producing a toner resin by a two-step suspension polymerization process, which entails preparing a polymer of high molecular weight having a weight average molecular weight of greater than about 350,000 from at least one monomer having a polymerizable vinyl group using a compound having at least three t-butyl peroxide groups in one molecule, as a polymerization initiator, and then preparing a low molecular weight polymer in the presence of the high molecular weight polymer. A toner having an excellent fixing property and offset resistance can be obtained from the above resin.

C., the softening temperature is not higher than 145.degree. C., the fixing-possible temperature covers a range of at least 30.degree. C., and the difference between the softening temperature and the glass transition temperature is not larger than 75.degree. C. The crosslinked polyester is used for toner for electrostatic recording.

    Abstract: A processing aid for a thermoplastic resin is disclosed, which is a two-stage polymer obtained by polymerizing (B) 5 to 50 parts by weight of a monomer or monomer mixture composed mainly of methyl methacrylate in the presence of (A) 50 to 95 parts by weight of a polymer comprising 100 to 50% by weight of units of a methacrylic acid ester other than methyl methacrylate and 0 to 50% by weight of units of other monomer copolymerizable with the methacrylic acid ester and having a reduced viscosity .eta.sp/C not larger than 2.0 dl/g, so that the total amount of the components (A) and (B) is 100 parts by weight and the reduced viscosity .eta.sp of the final polymer is not larger than 2.0 dl/g. A thermoplastic resin having the processing aid incorporated therein has an improved shaping processability, and a shaped article mode therefrom has good surface characteristics.

The polyvinyl chloride resin composition having this modifier incorporated therein provides a molded article having excellent impact resistance, solvent resistance, and transparency.
