    Abstract: A graft-modified ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer composition is prepared by graft copolymerizing an ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer. The ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer composition includes first and second ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymers. The copolymers are each prepared in the presence of a polymerization catalyst containing (a) an organoaluminum oxy compound and (b) for the first ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer at least two kinds, and for the second ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer one kind, of compounds of Group IV transition metals of the periodic table containing a ligand having a cyclopentadienyl skeleton. The ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer composition may be blended with a polyolefin by mechanical or solution blending. The copolymer compositions have excellent moldability and heat stability properties and forms films having high transparency and mechanical strength.

    Abstract: Disclosed are a catalyst for olefin polymerization comprising (A) a compound of a transition metal in Group IVB of the periodic table which contains a ligand having a cyclopentadienyl skeleton, (B) an organoaluminum compound and any one of (C1) a Br.o slashed.nsted acid; (C2) a material obtained by contacting (c-1) a magnesium compound with (c-2) an electron donor; and (C3) a material obtained by contacting (c-1) a magnesium compound, (c-2) an electron donor and (c-3) an organometallic compound with each other. Also disclosed are processes for polymerizing an olefin in the presence of the above-mentioned catalysts for olefin polymerization. Such catalysts and processes for olefin polymerization as described above are excellent in olefin polymerization activity and economical efficiency.

Third and fourth electrodes are respectively disposed on the first and second main faces in the second primary-side region, and the substrate between the third and fourth electrodes is polarized in the thicknesswise direction.

The polymerization process gives olefin polymers having a narrow molecular weight distribution and by the copolymerization of two or more olefins, gives olefin copolymers having a narrow molecular weight distribution and a narrow composition distribution.

The ethylene copolymer rubber has excellent moldability, high vulcanization rate, good mechanical properties such as high vulcanization strength, excellent low-temperature flexibility and thermal aging resistance. Also disclosed is a process for preparing the ethylene copolymer rubber with high activity, high conversion ratio of .alpha.-olefin and high random copolymerizability.

    Abstract: The invention provides ethylene-propylene-diene rubbers capable of imparting excellent heat resistance, weather resistance and dynamic fatigue resistance to vulcanized rubbers made therefrom. The ethylene-propylene-diene rubbers have sulfur uniformly dispersed therein by mixing a solution of the sulfur with a solution of the ethylene-propylene-diene rubber prior to the addition of vulcanization accelerators or other rubber additives to the rubbers. The vulcanized rubbers are particularly suitable for use as automobile components which require dynamic fatigue resistance such as muffler hangers, belts, rubber vibration insulators, engine mounts, tire treads for pneumatic tires, sidewalls for pneumatic tires and white sidewalls.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a process for preparing an ethylene-.alpha.-olefin-nonconjugated polyene random copolymer comprising random copolymerizing (a) ethylene, (b) an .alpha.-olefin of 3 or more carbon atoms and (c) a nonconjugated polyene in the presence of a metallocene catalyst containing a specific metallocene compound. The ethylene-.alpha.-olefin-nonconjugated polyene random copolymer prepared by the process has such properties that (i) the copolymer contains units derived from ethylene (a) and units derived from the .alpha.-olefin of 3 or more carbon atoms (b) in a molar ratio of 40/60 to 95/5 ?(a)/(b)!, (ii) the iodine value is 1 to 50, (iii) the intrinsic viscosity (.eta.) is more than 0.1 dl/g and less than 8.0 10 dl/g, (iv) the intensity ratio D of T.alpha..beta. to T.alpha..alpha. in the .sup.13 C-NMR spectrum, T.alpha..beta./T.alpha..alpha., is not more than 0.5, (v) the B value is 1.00 to 1.50, (vi) the glass transition temperature Tg is not higher than -50.degree. C., and (vii) the ratio g.eta.

By using poly-4-methyl-1-pentene having a low melting point, formation of cracks and other defects in the resin layer is prevented and the oil and fat impermeability is improved. If an intermediate layer of a specific polymer is formed in addition to the poly-4-methyl-1-pentene layer, the oil and fat impermeability is further improved. A box-shaped vessel (carton) and a release paper for an artificial leather can be prepared from this laminated film or sheet.

In addition, the elastomer desirably has properties that (6) the elastomer has a melting point Tm of 60.degree. to 140.degree. C., and the melting point Tm and a 1-butene constituent unit content M (% by mol) in the elastomer satisfy the relation -2.6M+130.ltoreq.Tm.ltoreq.-2.3M+155, and (7) a crystallinity C of the elastomer measured by X-ray diffractometry and the 1-butene constituent unit content M (% by mol) satisfy the relation C.ltoreq.
