  • Patent number: 5374685
Abstract: A syndiotactic graft copolymer is here disclosed in which a radical polymerizable unsaturated compound is grafted on a propylene homopolymer or copolymer, and this graft copolymer is obtained by heating a homopolymer having a substantially syndiotactic structure of propylene or a copolymer having a substantially syndiotactic structure of propylene and another .alpha.-olefin and a radical polymerizable unsaturated compound such as an unsaturated carboxylic acid or an unsaturated silane in the presence of a radical initiator up to the decomposition temperature or more of the radical initiator. This kind of graft copolymer can be used as a composition for adhesion. The graft copolymer in which the radical polymerizable unsaturated compound is a hydrolyzable unsaturated silane can be converted into a crosslinked polymer by heating in the presence of water, and it can also be converted into a water-crosslinkable resin composition by adding various additive thereto.

  • Patent number: 5332573
Abstract: Described are new strains of Drechslera spp., which possess herbicidal effects against all varieties of barnyard grass, i.e., Echinochloa spp. but do not give any influence to crops under cultivation such as rice. The control agents according to the present invention, which contain one or more of the strains, have high safety and selectivity, thereby providing practical control effects against barnyard grass. Further, the control compositions according to the present invention, which contain one or more of the new strains in combination with one or more chemical herbicides, have sufficient herbicidal effects even at dosages which are too low to permit control of barnyard grass when they are applied singly, thereby making it possible to reduce the dosage of herbicides. Thus, the control compositions can therefore contribute to the prevention of environmental pollution and the occurrence of barnyard grass with acquired pesticide resistance.
