  • Patent number: 6203391
Abstract: Signs including electroluminescent lamps are described. In accordance with one embodiment of the present invention, electroluminescent lamps are coupled to a sign by first forming a rear electrode on a front surface of the sign. After forming the rear electrode on the sign, a dielectric layer is screen printed over the rear electrode, and a phosphor layer is screen printed over the dielectric layer. A layer of indium tin oxide ink is then screen printed to the phosphor layer to form an EL lamp.

  • Patent number: 6067674
Abstract: A toilet seat provides a lifting operation to assist a user to safely engage and disengage a toilet. A toilet seat is pivotally arranged to swing between two positions, an incline position and a horizontal position. While the seat is in the incline position, a user may approach it from a slightly bent standing position. By pushing against the seat, the user's weight loads an energy storing strut and forces the seat to lower gently into its horizontal position. After which, the user may benefit from energy stored in the strut. The seat applies a pressure which lifts the user from the toilet and into a natural standing position. In some versions, the seat is powered by a compressed gas strut which is loaded by a user's weight when the user engages the device. The loaded strut energizes the pivoting seat to provide a force which operates to remove the user from the toilet. Additionally, the seat may be arranged with armrests so the user's arm strength may be used to aid the transition to and from the toilet.

  • Patent number: 6039837
Abstract: When closing the process of manufacturing cellulose pulp of high brightness, i.e. including the recovery of essentially all waste liquor, there is an untenable enrichment of certain basic elements, such as sodium and sulphur. The present invention provides a partial solution to this problem and is concerned with a method in bleaching with ozone lignocellulosic material, e.g. cellulose pulp, which has been at least partially manufactured chemically, in the presence of water at a degre of acidity, expressed as pH, of 2-5. The method is characterized in that the acidity is maintained during the ozone bleaching process by adding a sulphuric acid solution or an acid sodium sulphate solution produced by electrolysis or electrodialysis of an essentially neutral sodium sulphate solution obtained by recycling chemicals in a system to which waste liquor from the ozone bleaching process is added.

  • Patent number: 5732241
Abstract: A memory cache apparatus compatible with a wide variety of bus transfer types including non-burst and burst transfers. In burst mode, a "demand word first" wrapped around quad fetch order is supported. The cache memory system decouples the main memory subsystem from the host data bus so as to accommodate parallel cache-hit and system memory transfer operations for increased system speed and to hide system memory write-back cycles from the microprocessor. Differences in the speed of the local and system buses are accommodated, and an easy migration path from non-burst mode microprocessor based systems to burst mode microprocessor based systems is provided. Various memory organizations are accommodated including direct-mapped or one-way set associative, two-way set associative, and four-way set associative.

  • Patent number: 5628875
Abstract: When producing green liquor for later manufacture of cooking liquor, it is endeavoured that the green liquor shall be readily clarified and/or readily filtered. This endeavour is achieved with the present invention, which relates to a method of producing green liquor in which waste liquor separated from cellulose pulp and derived from a cooking stage and possibly from one or more bleaching stages is worked up including known treatment stages such as evaporation, combustion, smelt dissolving and other green liquor preparation, and in which a calcium containing chemical is added to the waste liquor prior to combustion, or is added at the combustion of the waste liquor. The method is characterized in that carbon deriving from the smelt is caused to equal at most 0.

  • Patent number: 5550069
Abstract: A method for producing a PMOS transistor. A p doped substrate and an n doped trough are provided by implantation and subsequent diffusion. The transistor is insulated by means of a field oxide layer. The transistor gates are produced using a photolithographic pattern. The photoresist left from the photolithographic pattern after the gate is etched is used as the mask of the drain region at the gate-side end for at least one p.sup.- implantation. The thickness of the edge of the photoresist layer decreases towards the surface of the drain region at the gate edge. Due to this decreasing thickness, when the implant is introduced the flank (17, 19) of the implantation concentration profile (16, 18) is deflected towards the channel below the gate region.

  • Patent number: 5456799
Abstract: The method solves the problem of delignifying technical cellulose pulp in a selective manner which will result in very low residual contents of lignin in the pulp and a correspondingly high quantity of lignin dissolved in spent liquors, which are recovered in the chemical recovery system of the pulp mill. The method comprises activating liquid-containing lignocellulosic material in the presence of nitrate with a gas that contains nitrogen dioxide, followed by the alkaline delignification of the lignocellulosic material, and measuring the acidity of the liquid accompanying the material on at least one occasion during the activation. The method is characterized in that the acidity of the liquid is measured subsequent to bringing the time derivative of the nitrate concentration of the liquid, expressed as millimols per liter of liquid per minute, to a level beneath +0.
