  • Patent number: 12032871
Abstract: When a speaker device is within communication range of an electronic device, various rules are used to determine whether to connect to or route audio data to the speaker device. For example, the electronic device may prompt the user to choose whether to connect to a wireless speaker device. In situations in which the user rejects connecting to the wireless speaker device, subsequent attempts by the speaker device to connect to the electronic device are also rejected or ignored without further prompting the user, or the wireless speaker device may be connected to the electronic device but audio data not routed to the wireless speaker device. By way of another example, the electronic device may determine whether to route audio data to a wireless speaker device based on signal strength and link quality metrics for wireless communication between the electronic device and one or more wireless speaker devices.

  • Patent number: 12035036
Abstract: A communication device, method and computer program product provide multiple simultaneous camera previews of different imaging modes of the same image. The communication device includes a communication subsystem that receives a photographic image stream from a second communication device. The communication device includes a display driver that presents content on a display device. A controller of the communication device is communicatively coupled to the display driver. The controller simultaneously presents the more than one camera previews on the display device. The communication device presents a particular imaging mode of the photographic image stream corresponding to the particular camera preview that is user selected. The communication device transmits, via the communication subsystem to the second communication device, a report of a user selection by the at least one user input device, of the particular imaging mode of the photographic visual stream that is being presented on the display device.

  • Patent number: 12032789
Abstract: An electronic device, a method and a computer program product mitigate inadvertent touch activations of a translating flexible display of the electronic device by maintaining presentation of a user interface content on a visual output layer of the flexible display in a smaller sized user interface (i.e., retracted user interface) among first and second user interfaces during repositioning of the flexible display. Association is maintained for interface control(s) at the touch input layer that correspond to the user interface content to avoid refreshing of the user interface content and thereby to mitigate inadvertent touch activation of a user interface control during the repositioning of the flexible display.

  • Patent number: 12034505
Abstract: A communication device, computer program product, and method proactively implement a successful transmit antenna configuration to address antenna outages for multiple transmit carrier scenarios. A carrier of the communication device determines a first transmit carrier, of at least two transmit carriers of a multiple transmit carrier mode, that is identified as having priority among the at least two transmit carriers. The controller identifies one or more transmit antenna configurations in the transmit antenna configuration data that support the first transmit carrier. The carrier determining, for each transmit antenna configuration, an aggregate antenna outage metric that indicates the transmit performance for a corresponding transmit antenna configuration. The controller configures an antenna switching network and RF frontend of a communication subsystem of the communication device with a first transmit antenna configuration that has a better aggregate antenna outage metric than other antenna configurations.

  • Patent number: 12028645
Abstract: A communication device provides subject-based segmentation and selective presentation of a video feed. A processor identifies a primary subject and a secondary subject within a captured video stream. The processor delineates the video stream into a primary segment and at least one secondary segment respectively encompassing the primary and secondary subjects. The processor identifies for each connected second device, a request type from among: (i) a first request type to only receive the primary segment; (ii) a second request type to receive the primary segment and secondary segment(s); and (iii) a third request type to receive secondary segments, but not the primary segment. The processor transmits, to each second device, specific segments of the video feed based on the request type associated with each respective second device. An accessibility setting enables a second device to selectively receive video segments of a sign language interpreter along with a main presenter.

  • Patent number: 12022022
Abstract: In aspects of adaptive grip suppression, a wireless device has a display screen with curved display edges to display a user interface associated with a device application, the user interface including a selectable element to initiate a device application action. The wireless device implements an adaptive control module to adaptively manage grip suppression in the curved display edges of the display screen, which limits the device application action from being initiated based on inadvertent touch inputs on the selectable element. The adaptive control module can determine that the selectable element of the user interface is displayed within a region of a curved display edge of the display screen, and decrease the grip suppression in the region of the curved display edge proximate the selectable element of the user interface.

  • Patent number: 12021906
Abstract: An electronic device incorporates, and a method and a computer program product provide automatic selection of an image capturing device during video communication session to encompass a local participant. A network interface(s) of the electronic device communicatively connects over a network second electronic device(s). A controller of the electronic device monitors a first image capturing device having a first field of view (FOV) and that produces first image content and a second image capturing device having a second FOV that differs from the first FOV and that produces second image content. In response to a trigger event to start providing image content to the video communication session, the controller determines which one of the first FOV and the second FOV encompasses the local participant in the video communication session and communicates a corresponding one of the first image content and the second image content to the video communication session.

  • Patent number: 12022182
Abstract: Techniques for visual feature based video effects are described and are implementable to determine one or more visual features associated with an individual and generate a modified video feed based on the visual features. The described implementations enable automatic focus of a video feed to a particular focal region based on facial features of the individual. For instance, a visual feature such as pupillary distance or pupil size is determined from a video feed. A focal distance is calculated based on the visual feature, e.g., indicating a region that the individual is focused on. A modified video stream is then generated based on the focal distance, for instance to focus the video stream to a specific focal plane.

  • Patent number: 12010089
Abstract: Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for gateway selection. One apparatus identifies a country in which the apparatus is currently located and transmits a query to a DNS server if the apparatus not being located in a home country, the query identifying the country in which the apparatus is currently located and receives a query response from the DNS server. The apparatus determines that gateway selection is mandated in the country if it receives a query response containing one or more records and selects a first gateway in a VPLMN indicated by the one or more records, each record indicating a VPLMN in the country. The apparatus determines that gateway selection is not mandated in the country if the query response contains no records and selects a second gateway, the second gateway selected in a VPLMN indicated in stored gateway selection information.
