Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for student accountability systems. School buses can be equipped with a bus system that executes a driver application. Students carry student identification (ID) systems that identify the students to the bus system, which in turn reports a geographic location to a student accountability system. The bus system is configured to permit rapid boarding and easy usage by drivers. The student accountability system provides a parent portal and an administrator portal to monitor the students and provide other useful functions.

  • Patent number: 11907606
Abstract: A compute box includes a communication device and one or more processors. The one or more processors, in response to the communication device being electronically in communication with a flexible content presentation companion device and at least one other flexible content presentation companion device, determine a geometric configuration of each flexible content presentation companion device. The one or more processors format content for presentation on the visible area available on the flexible content presentation companion device and another visible area of another flexible content presentation companion device and cause the communication device to deliver the content to each flexible content presentation companion device. When the geometric configuration of any flexible content presentation companion device changes, the one or more processors can generate a visible display area adjustment animation to smoothly transfer the content to a new visible area.

  • Patent number: 11907495
Abstract: One or more processors of an electronic device detect a communication device electronically in communication with a content presentation companion device operating as a primary display for the electronic device and including a first ultra-wideband component. The one or more processors determine, with a second ultra-wide component carried by the electronic device, a distance between the electronic device and the content presentation companion device using an ultra-wideband ranging process. The one or more processors then dynamically enhance a user interface of the content presentation companion device as a function of the distance between the electronic device and the content presentation companion device. The enhancing adjusts a user interface feature being presented on the content presentation companion device.

  • Patent number: 11910470
Abstract: An indication of a first energy detection threshold for a first clear channel assessment (CCA) can be received at a mobile device from a cell operating on an unlicensed carrier. The first energy detection threshold can be different than a second energy detection threshold for a second CCA at a network entity of the cell. A determination can be made as to whether the unlicensed carrier is occupied based upon the first CCA and the received first energy detection threshold. A data packet can be communicated between the mobile device and the cell when the unlicensed carrier is not otherwise occupied.

  • Patent number: 11909899
Abstract: An electronic device includes a first device housing and a second device housing. The electronic device includes a hinge housing coupling the first device housing to the second device housing. The hinge housing provides a hinge allowing the first device housing to pivot about the hinge housing between an axially displaced open position and a closed position. A hinge housing plate situated within the hinge housing translates within the hinge housing between a first position and a second position when the first device housing and the second device housing pivot about the hinge housing from the axially displaced open position to the closed position, thereby allowing at least a portion of a service loop defined by a flexible display to situate within the hinge housing when the first device housing and second device housing are in the closed position.

  • Patent number: 11900579
Abstract: A device includes a digital camera positioned underneath a display of the device that captures images through the display. When capturing images using the digital camera, light emitted by the display can get into the digital camera, interfering with or corrupting the captured images. Calibration images are displayed on the display and captured by the digital camera to be used to generate an enhanced output image that mitigates the interference from the display. Recalibration images are subsequently captured in response to any of a variety of different trigger events that may cause or indicate a change in the alignment and geometries of the display pixels to the imager pixels. The captured recalibration image is merged with the previously captured calibration image to generate a merged calibration image, which is afterwards used as the captured calibration image.

  • Patent number: 11902091
Abstract: A change in the emotional state of a user of a device is detected, and in response to this change a reason for the change in user emotional state is determined. This determination is made based on both the current user emotional state and context data for the device or user. The device then adapts to the user based on the current emotional state and the reason for the change in user emotional state. This adaptation of the computing device refers to an alteration of the operation of the computing device with a goal of increasing the likelihood of the user being in a good emotional state (e.g., happy, relaxed) and reducing the likelihood of the user being in a bad emotional state (e.g., sad, angry).

  • Patent number: 11902936
Abstract: Techniques for notification handling based on identity and physical presence are described and may be implemented to determine whether to route a notification from a first device (e.g., a mobile device) to a second device (e.g., a display device) for output at the second device. Generally, the described implementations utilize sensor data captured at a physical location to detect and/or identify persons present at the physical location and to determine whether to route notifications between devices based on the detected persons/identities.

  • Patent number: 11900784
Abstract: An electronic device has pair(s) of conductive plates that is coupled to a housing and is electrically isolated by a dielectric material. The pair(s) of conductive plates is positioned to change relative orientation in relation to mechanical force that deforms the housing. Capacitive driver(s) is electrically coupled to pair(s) of conductive plates. A controller is communicatively coupled to the capacitive driver(s). The controller identifies a first capacitance of the pair(s) of conductive plates associated with the housing being in a normal state. The controller detects, via the capacitor driver(s), a change in capacitance from the first capacitance to a second capacitance of the pair(s) of conductive plates. The controller compares the change in capacitance to a threshold. In response to the change exceeding the threshold, the controller generates a notification.

  • Patent number: 11902783
Abstract: One apparatus includes a processor that creates a second request on behalf of a remote unit from a first request received from a non-3GPP access network, the second request including a subscriber identity of the remote unit. The processor sends the second request to a mobile core to initiate connection of the remote unit to the mobile core and receives a third request from the mobile core, the first request being part of a first authentication procedure and the third request being part of a NAS authentication procedure different than the first authentication procedure. The processor transforms the third request into a fourth request of the first authentication procedure and uses an authentication response of the first authentication procedure to complete connection of the remote unit to the mobile core.

  • Patent number: 11899506
Abstract: An electronic device, a communication device, and a method enhance thermal energy spreading via thermal spreader layer(s) of a flexible layer assembly extending through a hinge coupling first and second device housings of a configurable housing assembly. The thermal spreader layer is positioned on a surface of a flexible circuit of the flexible layer assembly. The thermal spreader layer has one end thermally coupled to a first structure within the first device housing and another end thermally coupled to a second structure within the second device housing to transfer thermal energy between the first and the second structures. The flexible layer assembly deforms within one or both of a first and second chamber respectively of the first and second device housings when the first and second device housings pivot about the hinge from a closed position to an axially displaced open position.
