Abstract: A method and system for establishing wireless communication with a device is provided. Aspects of an exemplary embodiment include detecting, at a first device, a physical interaction involving the first device and a second device. Further, the first device identifies a network address usable for establishing communication between the first device and the second device, the network address identified based on information associated with the detected physical interaction. Further, a role of the first device is determined, wherein the role of the first device is an initiator device. Further, based on the role of the first device as the initiator device, the network address is wirelessly provided to the second device. Further, content is wirelessly transferred between the first device and the second device using the network address.
Abstract: A method of providing a reminder of a task to be performed at a task location is disclosed herein. The method includes receiving first location information identifying a first location of a user via a mobile communication device and storing the first location information in association with historical travel information. The method includes storing task information that identifies the task and the task location. The method includes identifying a reminder position, wherein the reminder position is based on a comparison of an estimated probability of the user traveling in a trajectory leading toward the task location and an estimated probability of the user traveling in a trajectory leading away from the task location. The method includes receiving current location information identifying a current location and providing a reminder for the task based on a comparison of the current location information and the reminder position.
Abstract: Computer-implemented systems and methods for extracting information during a human-to-human mono-lingual or multi-lingual dialog between two speakers are disclosed. Information from either the recognized speech (or the translation thereof) by the second speaker and/or the recognized speech by the first speaker (or the translation thereof) is extracted. The extracted information is then entered into an electronic form stored in a data store.
Abstract: A real-time open domain speech translation system for simultaneous translation of a spoken presentation that is a spoken monologue comprising one of a lecture, a speech, a presentation, a colloquium, and a seminar. The system includes an automatic speech recognition unit configured for accepting sound comprising the spoken presentation in a first language and for continuously creating word hypotheses, and a machine translation unit that receives the hypotheses, wherein the machine translation unit outputs a translation, into a second language, from the spoken presentation.
Abstract: Speech translation systems and methods for simultaneously translating speech between first and second speakers, wherein the first speaker speaks in a first language and the second speaker speaks in a second language that is different from the first language. The speech translation system may comprise a resegmentation unit that merge at least two partial hypotheses and resegments the merged partial hypotheses into a first-language translatable segment, wherein a segment boundary for the first-language translatable segment is determined based on sound from the second speaker.
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for updating the vocabulary of a speech translation system for translating a first language into a second language including written and spoken words. The method includes adding a new word in the first language to a first recognition lexicon of the first language and associating a description with the new word, wherein the description contains pronunciation and word class information. The new word and description are then updated in a first machine translation module associated with the first language. The first machine translation module contains a first tagging module, a first translation model and a first language module, and is configured to translate the new word to a corresponding translated word in the second language. Optionally, the invention may be used for bidirectional or multi-directional translation.

Abstract: A speech translation system and methods for cross-lingual communication that enable users to improve and modify content and usage of the system and easily abort or reset translation. The system includes a speech recognition module configured for accepting an utterance, a machine translation module, an interface configured to communicate the utterance and proposed translation, a correction module and an abort action unit that removes any hypotheses or partial hypotheses and terminates translation. The system also includes modules for storing favorites, changing language mode, automatically identifying language, providing language drills, viewing third party information relevant to conversation, among other things.
Abstract: A field maintainable class-based translation system and apparatus with components that ease use by linguistically untrained users is disclosed. The apparatus includes modules for recovering errors, extending and customizing language coverage and increasing the speed of effective communication.

Abstract: A system and method for capturing professional billing services and other information associated with a communication event executed or received by a stationary or portable computer or a mobile communications device. Captured information may include, without limitation, client/customer name, telephone number, email address, event start time, event end time, event billable time, amount charged for the event, billing rate, and notes/activities associated with the event. In addition, the invention enables customization of any or all of the foregoing by a professional services provider prior to issuance of a bill or invoice for professional services.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for securely booting a computer system comprises loading secure boot code and a secure operating system from the secure boot code. The method includes authenticating the user in the secure operating system, prior to permitting access to the main operating system.

Abstract: An iterative language translation system. The system includes a first automatic speech recognition component adapted to recognize spoken language in a source language and to create a source language hypothesis and a first machine translation component adapted to translate the source language hypothesis into a target language. The system also includes a second automatic speech recognition component adapted to recognize spoken language in the target language that is spoken by a translator, and wherein the second automatic speech recognition component is further adapted to create a target language hypothesis.
