Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for treating wound with negative pressure. The apparatus includes a wound cover, a first pump for providing said negative pressure at a chosen pressure level to the wound, a canister, a first conduit between the wound cover and the canister, first means for measuring the pressure within the canister, and a second conduit which connects the canister with the first pump. A circulating pump is arranged to intermittently transport a gas volume from the canister to the wound region via a third conduit and back to the canister via the first conduit in order to press out possible exudates from the first conduit to the canister. A second means analyzes the pressure curve over time of said pressure in the canister and a third means indicates by alarm when said pressure curve differs from a normal cyclical form.
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for treating a wound with negative pressure. The apparatus includes a wound cover, a first pump for providing said negative pressure to the wound, a canister, a first conduit between the wound cover and the canister, a means for measuring the pressure within the canister, and a second conduit which connects the canister with the first pump. A method for controlling the negative pressure in a wound using such an apparatus is also disclosed.
Abstract: A device for treatment of wounds using reduced pressure is provided. The device includes a pump, a reservoir connected to the pump for collecting exudate from a wound, an inlet to the reservoir for connecting the reservoir with the wound so as to allow the pump to expose the wound to the reduced pressure, a wound pad to be arranged in the wound cavity, and a sealing covering the wound and the wound pad. The wound pad consists of an open-cell polyurethane foam which is fully impregnated with a soft hydrophobic silicone gel. The foam has a hardness of 1.0-6.0 kPa measured according to ISO 3386-1 at 40% compression. Also provided is a wound pad to be used with an absorbent member. In addition, provided is a method for manufacturing the wound pad.
Abstract: A body attachment wafer for an ostomy device is provided, which body attachment wafer has a stoma opening, and an adhesive layer. The adhesive layer is covered by a release layer, having an opening which corresponds to the stoma opening. The release layer is divided along at least one dividing line from the stoma opening to the periphery of the body attachment wafer, and the release sheet includes a first grip tab extending from the release sheet in the area of the at least one dividing line. The first grip tab is arranged to overlap the release sheet on the other side of the dividing line.
Abstract: The present invention provides a polymer fibre comprising a thermoplastic polymer comprising the following building blocks A and B: —O—(CH2—CH2—O)n— (A) —O—[CH2]y—O— (B), wherein n is an integer of 10-400, and y is an integer in the range of 2 to 16, wherein A is present in an amount of 15-30 mole %, B is present in an amount of 20-40 mole % and wherein building blocks A and B are linked by the following linking group C: —[(C?O)—NH—CH2—CH2—CH2—CH2—CH2—CH2—NH—(C?O)]— (C) wherein C is present in an amount of 45-55 mole %. The present invention further relates to a method for preparing a polymer fibre, absorbent articles comprising a polymer fibre and the use of a fibre in a product for treating wounds and/or burns.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a dressing (1) for protecting the skin around objects projecting out from the skin, the dressing including a first liquid impermeable film layer (2) coated with a skin friendly adhesive (3) on the lower side thereof, i.e. the side intended to adhere to the skin when the dressing is used. According to the invention a body (4) of absorbent material is enclosed between the first film layer (2) and a second liquid impermeable film layer (5), the second film layer being affixed to the first film layer in parts extending beyond the periphery of the body of absorbent material, and the dressing includes an element (8) for facilitating passing of an object projecting out from the skin through the dressing.
Abstract: A self-adhesive wound care product, including a backing layer having a self-adhesive coating, preferably a silicone-gel adhesive coating, the backing layer of the product comprising a first area in which the adhesive coating has a first thickness, and a second area along at least a portion of the edges of the product. The second area has an adhesive coating having a thickness, which is less than the first thickness and which gradually decreases in a direction towards the edge of the product, from a thickness which is substantially equal to said first thickness to a thickness of 0-0.05 mm; or the second area is substantially free from adhesive coating.
Abstract: An ostomy device is provided including an ostomy pouch having an entrance opening, a body attachment wafer having a through-going opening and a coupling layer, which couples the pouch to the body attachment wafer and has a central opening therein. The body attachment wafer includes a plastic film, which is coated with a layer of skin friendly adhesive on the side thereof distal to the ostomy pouch. The coupling layer is affixed to the body attachment wafer along an attachment line extending around the central opening in the coupling layer, the attachment line being distanced from the central opening in the coupling layer. The region around the entrance opening of the pouch is affixed to the coupling layer in a landing zone located between the attachment line and the opening in the body attachment wafer.
Abstract: Provided is a film dressing that includes a thin plastic film coated with an adhesive, and a carrier layer applied on the plastic film on a side opposite to the adhesive coating. The adhesive coating has a softness of 10-22 mm and a weight per unit area of 50 g/m2 or more.
