  • Patent number: 5893197
Abstract: A method for manufacturing an absorbent structure in an absorbent product such as a sanitary napkin, panty liner, diaper or similar product, which is manufactured by air-permeable forming elements. In the present method, the constituent fibres or similar material are given a certain electrical potential while the forming elements completely or partially are given an opposite potential or are grounded, the position and duration of the potential being variable. The material's orientation, distribution and location can be controlled so that the structure in the absorbent product can have the desired appearance.

  • Patent number: 5855571
Abstract: An absorbent structure in an absorbent article, such as a diaper, incontinence guard, sanitary napkin and the like, wherein the structure includes hydrophilic fibres and particles of a superabsorbent material and also has a front and a back part (4, 5) and a crotch part (6) located therebetween, said crotch part exhibiting a wetting region (16) within which the major part of discharged fluid is directed and wherein the absorbent structure in the wetting region includes superabsorbent particles that are encased in a material that will only dissolve slowly in and/or be penetrated slowly by the fluid to be absorbed so that the superabsorbent material will not begin to absorb fluid and swell to any appreciable extent until the encapsulating material has dissolved and/or been penetrated by the fluid and that conventional superabsorbent material (15) is localized generally in those parts of the structure that are located outside said wetting region.

  • Patent number: 5817085
Abstract: A method for the manufacturing of an absorbent structure in an absorbent article, such as a sanitary napkin, tampon, panty protector, wound or sore dressing and like articles is produced by using absorbent material in roll form directly in the product without first defibrating the material and then forming a mat. The material possesses good dispersion properties and swelling properties, which are meaningful to the function of the product. A high surface dryness is obtained, among other things. In addition to cellulose fibers, the absorbent structure may also include superabsorbent material and/or binding fibers, among other ingredients. The pulp mat is very thin, therewith obviating the need to compress the mat further in the product. In the case of certain product applications, the material is softened mechanically prior to its use as an absorbent material.
