Abstract: A database stores a number N of biometric data representatives which correspond to a set of characteristics of said biometric data. Acquired biometric data is obtained. Then, transformed biometric data is obtained by transforming the acquired biometric data according to said set of characteristics. Next, N deviation values are obtained by applying a comparison between the transformed biometric data and the N representatives in the database. Finally, a vector representing the acquired biometric data is obtained, the representation vector having a number of components less than or equal to N, said components being determined in relation to said N deviation values.

  • Patent number: 8233680
Abstract: A method of identifying an individual in which captured images are encrypted by a transformation function and superimposed over previously recorded encrypted images. • Patent number: 8199909
Abstract: A cryptographic calculation is carried out in an electronic component according to a specific cryptographic algorithm including at least one specified non-linear operation on blocks of data of k bits, k being a whole number of more than 2. Several blocks of masked intermediate data of j bits are generated from an initial block of data of k bits, j being a whole number that is smaller than k. Then a non-linear operation S is applied to at least one of the masked intermediate data blocks of j bits with the aid of a substitution table with 2 inputs producing a modified data block of j bits. The modified data block of j bits and at least some of the masked intermediate data blocks of j bits are combined to form a result block of k bits corresponding to the initial data block of k bits by means of a transformation including the specified non linear operation.

  • Publication number: 20120134493
Abstract: A device is controlled by a controller on the basis of a password. A determination is made at the device or at the controller, on the basis of a random value r1, of a point P(X,Y) on an elliptic curve in a finite body Fq, q being an integer, according to: Ea,b(x, y):x3+ax+b=y2. First and second parameters k and k? are obtained such that P(X,Y)=F(K,k?), where F is a surjective function of Fq×Fq, in Fq. The first and second parameters are obtained in an encrypted format by encryption in accordance with the password. The first and second encrypted parameters are then transmitted to the controller. During the control, the function F is used, such that, whatever the values of z and z? which are input elements of Fq, F(z,z?) is a point on the elliptic curve and the input elements do not satisfy the equation.

  • Patent number: 8191164
Abstract: A method of managing access rights in a smart card, to subordinating execution of a command (Cmd1, Cmdk) such as reading or writing to an event (Evt1?, Evtk?) being valid, such as authentication by verifying a code. The state of validation events is stored in a register, and the access rights are stored in a command list (List_Cmd) made up of couples (Cpl1, Cplk), each associating a command with an event. On receiving a request to execute a command, a search is made in the command list (List_Cmd) for the couple (Cpl1, Cplk) that includes the requested command, and execution is refused if the search is unsuccessful. If the search is successful, then it is determined from the register (referred to as the card security state register) whether the event associated with the command is or is not valid, in order to authorize or refuse execution thereof. The invention is for use in any smart card application that involves access rights.

  • Publication number: 20120131051
Abstract: In a method for searching for an entity belonging to a set of entities, a verifier device and the entities are arranged so as to exchange information via at least one communication channel. Each entity has a first respective identifier from which a plurality of representatives can be obtained. According to the method, a first identification word (mi; p(Xi)), which is related to an entity for which a search is carried out, is obtained in the verifier device. The first identification word is formed by applying a first encoding function to the first identifier of the entity for which the search is being carried out so as to depend on a sub-portion of the plurality of representatives that can be obtained from said first identifier. The sub-portion is predetermined by at least one variable parameter. The first identification word, obtained on the communication channel, is transmitted from the verifier device.

  • Publication number: 20120093309
Abstract: A cryptographic calculation includes obtaining a point P(X,Y) from a parameter t on an elliptical curve Y2=f(X) and from polynomials satisfying: ?f(X1(t)).f(X2(t))=U(t)2 in the finite body Fq, irrespective of the parameter t, q=3 mod 4. A value of the parameter t is obtained and the point P is determined by: (i) calculating X1=X1(t), X2=X2(t) and U=U(t); (ii) testing whether the term f(X?1) is a squared term in the finite body Fq and, if so, calculating the square root of the term f(X1), the point P having X1 as abscissa and Y1, the square root of the term f(X1), as ordinate; (iii) otherwise, calculating the square root of the term f(X2), the point P having X2, as abscissa and Y2, the square root of the term f(X2), as ordinate. The point P is useful in encryption, scrambling, signature, authentication or identification cryptographic applications.

  • Publication number: 20120084849
Abstract: The device and method described herein relates to the field of computer security and, specifically, to the field of protecting confidential personal information which enables encrypted access to the remote server. A device and a method for securing confidential user information and secure exchanges of such information with the servers that host the services is provided. The device and method are based on personalising a smartcard containing the information. The chip card, connected to the user terminal, has a connection enabling the terminal to appear as a standalone host of the user's local network. An encrypted connection is then established directly between the chip card and the server hosting the service for the transmission of confidential data. The data, stored on the chip card, are then exchanged with the server via the encrypted connection. The data are never accessible in plain text on the user terminal.
