  • Patent number: 6853383
Abstract: A method of processing images in images comprising three-dimensional objects, the method comprising a step of mapping a two-dimensional image on a face of a three-dimensional object, a step of interaction between a user and the two-dimensional image mapped on the three-dimensional image, intended to enable a user to displace the whole or part of the two-dimensional image on the face of the three-dimensional object. This method enables the user to map a fixed 2D image or a video image on a face of a 3D object, and to displace the image as he wishes on the face of the object he has selected. If the image is constituted by several parts, for example, the parts of a puzzle, the user can independently displace each part of this image, for example, so as to reconstitute the initial image of the puzzle.

  • Patent number: 6853154
Abstract: A system and method for open loop bi-level ballast control providing multiple levels of illumination from a ballast-driven lamp. Power to a lamp is adjusted in response to a lamp control signal by adjusting the frequency driving the ballast powering the lamp. Line voltage feeds an AC/DC converter, which supplies DC voltage to a high frequency (HF) ballast. A frequency control circuit responds to a lamp control signal and supplies a ballast frequency signal to the HF ballast, which responds to the ballast frequency signal and adjusts the current supplied to the lamp accordingly. In one embodiment, the lamp control signal can be a bi-level signal providing bi-level illumination.

  • Patent number: 6853179
Abstract: An arrangement is provided for measuring the field strength of a magnetic field, or measuring field, by an angle sensor. The angle sensor is aligned with the field lines of the measuring field at the position of the field strength of the measuring field, or measuring position. A device for generating a magnetic auxiliary field at the measuring position is also included. The angle sensor can be impressed with the magnetic auxiliary field in a predeterminable field strength and in a direction deviating from that of the field lines of the measuring field at the measuring position, forming a resultant magnetic field with a field line direction. The field line direction is measured by the angle sensor as a measure of the field strength of the measuring field. The arrangement is reliable, suitable for measuring high magnetic field strengths, has no reactive effects, and permits measurements with magnetoresistive angle sensors.

  • Publication number: 20050026173
Abstract: The present invention is in the field of nucleic acid-based genetic analysis using mass spectrometry fragmentation in combination with identification of the overall structure of genetic variation in all living species. The structure can be revealed with the use of any data set of genetic variants from a particular locus. The data sets are generated through fragmentation mass spectrometry. The invention is useful to define the subset of variations that are most suited as genetic markers to search for correlations with certain phenotypic traits. Additionally, the insights are useful for the development of algorithms and computer programs that convert genotype data into the constituent haplotypes that are laborious and costly to derive in an experimental way. The invention is useful in areas such as (i) genome-wide association studies, (ii) clinical in vitro diagnosis, (iii) plant and animal breeding, (iv) the identification of micro-organisms.
